China is a big place and the regional diversity is considerable, but it's also much more Third World and less Westernized especially outside Shanghai and Beijing. The environmental situation is quite horrible in a lot of the country.
In terms of personal freedom, I dunno if it makes that much difference since South Korea has a lot of the same censorship on offensive/foreign media. The justice system is probably much more fair and First World than anything you'd get in China.
