Not very relevant if you consider the fact that we have 271+ (just made that up tbqh, but you get the idea) different Protestant denominations in this country (gereformeerd, hervormd, nederlands hervormd, evangelish lutheraan, vrijzinnig, remonstrant etc etc en daar dan allemaal ook nog weer 2 of 3 varianten van).. The freedom of religion goes way back into our history, and the plurality of Protestant churches is a defining cultural aspect of the Netherlands. Even our Catholics caught a whiff of Calvinism... It's also worth mentioning that our famous struggle against the Spanish was in large part about kicking out the Catholics. Willem van Oranje himself actually used the lack of freedom of religion (which back then more or less meant: freedom to be another kind of Christian than Catholic) of religion in the low countries as a justification for his seizing power..
On top of all that, having been born in a fairly small Catholic community to Catholic parents without ever actually being baptised, I can assure you that the Catholic church simply lies about their membership rates, and they NEVER give a soul up once it's in the books. If you were baptised in 1973, and that was your first and last time in the church, you count for the statistics.... And should they find out you ever had a child, that child will count too. That's how they roll.
