Then there's a laundry list of other horrific things they've done to poison their land, people and wildlife which dwarfs anything you'd see in India. Partly because despite the corruption, the Indian government is still at least somewhat responsible towards it's citizens due to the democratic process.

Their numbers were low back then so it didn't affect the crime rate much. Perhaps most people don't know it (although most people certainly suspect it) because it isn't reported prominently on the media. Especially on TV politicians and so-called experts are often unchallenged when they lie about migrants not being over-represented in crime. I think it also really doesn't affect the average Austrian that much because most of the crime (I think) they commit is drug related, while violent crime affects other asylum seekers most of the time.
