I'm just a Portuboo. My good buddy from Lisbon (we met on a forum and have been skyping since 2011) studies at ISEL and my qt from culturepals is starting at Porto this fall but she's also considered Coimbra, so I know quite a bit about Portuguese uni traditions.

you had two major issues with "cidades e vilas de portugal" (i had to listen to that twice to understand what you were saying) and "caldas da rainha". but word by word everything was understandable, if you try to do the same with those two (a bit more slow and spaced out) it will be more understandable. obviously not at a 100% native level. but very commendable. Then it's worth it.
For me it's because two of the most important people in my life are Portuguese and I'm going to be spending a lot of time over there. It's honestly way more compelling than when I started learning German (much more useful) because that originally was just "muh heritage"
