I'm about to transfer 3 months in Slovakia for an internship.
Tell me cool things to do and visit in Bratislava.
No, i'm not interested in drugs and prostitution and I won't enrich your women with my pastanigger blood.

I don't know how many nazis they have in the streets, but they do have a few in parliament so be on your guard.

I learned that there are good reasons why non-famous countries aren't famous.
>>
>>56496005
they are just not good t promoting tourism and they get shadowed by Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary.
>>
>>56496076
>they get shadowed by Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary.
Visited all of them and there is no reason to pick Slovakia over those countries. Drugs and prostitutes are the best things about this country.
>>
My father told me that the day Czechoslovakia got split it felt like one of those supermarket discount announcement on the speakers: they say it but in the end nobody gives a shit.
>>
>>56496246
That's a bit mean. They have beautiful mountains.

Bratislava is smaller but, it's not that bad desu

Nightlife is pretty good and there's also a lot of cultural events (now it's even more due to our EU presidency). City is also close to nature

We have Mlyny, the biggest student city in the East-Central Europe

Don't worry about fascists, they're a joke here

The coolest thing to do in Bratislava is going to the train station to go to an actually interesting place, like the Tatras.

I don't agree. They're mediocre compared to our neighbours

Yeah, and so what?

Going to Bratislava train station is always a unique experience :^)

spent there three days recently. apart from some nice buildings built by the Germans and Hungarians who made up the majority of the city right until 1920, a few good pubs (check out Kontakt and Fabrika) and some funky communist-era constructions (like the upside down pyramid in the Bratislava's commercial district), there really isn't anything interesting or particularly nice in the city. the surrounding area does have quite a few things to discover, though, for example the Devin castle, which is like a 20 minutes bus ride from the centre.
it's a comfy place, but it feels more like a small town out in the countryside than a European capital
>>
Also Vienna and Budapest are very close, so it's ideal for a weekend or a day trip
>>
>>56496710
why does this look so comfy and are Finns welcome to live there
>>
>>56496429
To be honest Nazis or not I don't care. I'm from Lombardy and I don't look like I moor, even if I was I doubt that these so called Nazis would really care, these kind of news usually are all talk.
What really worries me are fucking gypsies, we don't have that many here yet they manage to always fit 100% in their stereotype.

I don't think you understand the relations between slavic and finno-ugric tribes in the Pannonian lands
>>

Slovakia is a rural country

Old Pressburgers knew Hungarian, German and Slovak and there was a large Jewish community
>>
>>56496845
Gypsies are mainly concentrated in the eastern part of the country

Bratislava didn't vote for the fascists, other regions did

doesn't change the fact that the wealthy families who built most of the flashy buildings in Bratislava were mostly Hungarians (such as the Pálffys, the Esterházys, the Erdődys, the Dessewffys or count Antal Grassalkovich)

>>56497287
>Hungarians
Ethnicity during the Monarchy was sketchy. Aristocrats of all origins spoke Hungarian.

It used to be the capital city of the Kingdom of Hungary for three hundred years when the Turks occupied majority of Hungary. Obviously, a lot of noble Hungarian families lived here

My family comes from here and I have German, Hungarian, Slovak and Jewish ancestors and that's only a few generations back

It's actually the faculty of law and the main building of our biggest university

What are the defining characteristics of Slovaks when compared to Czechs ?
>>
>>56498110
More conservative and religious

We're pretty similar except for that
>>
>>56498199
>More conservative and religious
You shouldn't admit that on a public forum bro
>>
>>56498291
Well, I don't like it, but that's how we are
>>
>>56498199
>more conservative

not in a political way, though
more like "less degenerate" could be said
but again that's a point of view, Bratislava is pretty degenerate if you ask me
>>
>>56498687
>less degenerate
More close-minded desu

Bratislava is very different to the rest of Slovakia

Bratislava is messy, dirty, ugly (but there are also some nice corners) and small

But it's also authentic (it's not a tourist trap except for a few streets), dynamic and also pretty safe

I quite like it here

Slovak Pub

hehehe

nah, there's a lot to see in Bratislava ;) You gonna like it

I was honestly scared when I got off the train in Bratislava, I was just visiting for the day from Vienna. I left early, it was my first experience in a Slavic country.

Think I read some article about it. In any case I'm talking about Europe. World wide is probably California

No wonder, Vienna is the most liveable city in international rankings

>My first experience in a Slavic country
I'd feel 100 times safer in any random eastern European city at night.
I lived in Moscow for 3 months in relatively shitty area of the city and I never ever had a single problem, even walking alone at night was ok. The famous gopniks (russian chavs) that are supposed to behave like savages are just permanently drunk slavs, sometime they even tried to invite me to drink with them. I can't say the same thing about enriched and culturally diverse cities like Paris, London or Brussels.
