>Europeans will tune in tonight to see Hilary win the primaries

Why do Europeans care about American politics? No one in America gives a shit about European politics.
>>
because america matters you dumb shit
>>
Because if Clinton wins, Europe wins.

We won't allow you for voting antieuropeans like Trump or Sanders

I don't care if Trump is bad or good for americans interests

Hillary is good for european interests, she offers stability, friendship and we keep going this way.

Trump gives us inestability and he will destroy our image in the world for being related to him

Like, literally only Clinton and Rubio are the only potable candidates in this election.

I'm worried about the path american is choosing. Every election things are more and more distant from the center and the stability.

>No one in America gives a shit about European politics.

But it's good to understand foreign politics. I'm following the US election because I want to be an informed member of society (and it has entertainment value). I also follow European politics and that of select other countries. The French and German elections next year will have my full attention, indeed I was following the regional German elections a couple days ago.

If one understands the dynamics that are playing out in other countries, it helps planning and strategy in a number of ways. For example if my job involves advising businesses on strategy then knowing about this stuff is a good idea.

Some of the reasons have been mentioned: US is a superpower and the entertainment factor. Another thing that makes US politics interesting is how alien it is compared to European politics. Not just the political left/right spectrum but the structure of the political system itself is different to what the majority of Europeans have in their domestic politics - mostly parliamentary democracies.

Therefore US politics, with its primaries, its President separated from the lower house, and so on is exotic and interesting
>>
Your political campaigns are like reality TV shows and generate a metric ton of memes. Over here it's just to quick and abrupt.
>>
>>56406578
To be fair, over here we have limits on political campaign donations and the lengths of the campaigns themselves. It would be impossible to fund a US-style campaign in the UK because even if people wanted to throw that much money at a party it'd be illegal.
>>

I wish Kaisich would gain more traction the top 3 candidates as of now all suck it's unfortunate but I guess that's how politics always go.
>>
>>56403913
but i do care about european politics
>>
>>56406917
I don't blame you, European politics has become interesting for the first time in a long time. Have you noticed the 'great fragmentation'? Some countries (Spain, Ireland) with proportional voting systems are literally unable to form a government because vote has fragmented to an insane degree. Anti-establishment and anti-globalisation forces are getting stronger just like you're seeing in America

Poland and the UK went from coalition -> majority government as the exceptions that prove the rule, although in Poland it was the anti-establishment vote that won the majority
>>
>>56407894

>Spain

Spain still has 4 major parties. Try the Netherlands for a change, there's already talk of requiring 5 or 6 parties just in order to form a government next election.
>>
>>56408614
Yeah but it's impossible to predict the results of an election a year away. Everyone "knew" that the May 2015 UK election would result in a Hung Parliament and a coalition would be difficult to form. Then what happened?

I cite Spain because they actually can't form a government, it's a mess. Same in Ireland. They may need to another election. If that doesn't work it will be minority government or Grand Coalitions, and the thing about a Grand Coalition is that the extremist fringe parties are given extra legitimacy as the most visible opposition.
>>
The next of American's president will affect other countries' politics.
Just look now at Germany, Trump so far has won, now AfD got on 2nd place of certain place. People wakes up because your country wakes up, this is ironically true. You can't deny this.

What the fuck

Trump: "Iraq was a terrible idea"
"We need to stop invading countries"
"Globalist trade deals are bad"
"I hope European nationalists win elections"

vs

Cruz/Rubio/Bush
"Invade everything and drag our allies with us"
"Let's spy on everything"
"Corporate America should colonize the world more"

Trump is objectively less of an asshole to US allies than Bush was, who dragged Europeans to die in our pointless wars and set forth spying programmes and other crap. Trump is against Iraq, and Iraq caused a lot of the refugees. Those like Cruz or Bush don't care of the consequences though

I said "stability is everything" you fool. A US President who is dismissive of NATO and wants to get cosy with Russia is obviously going to make Europeans question their assumption of the USA's role since the end of WW2. You are a fucking idiot.

Also the US isn't powerful enough to drag Europeans into wars if they don't want to be involved. In Iraq most of Europe chose not to join in. When the US was gearing up to hit Assad, even the UK refuse to join in. Libya in 2011 was actually a case of Europe dragging the US into a conflict.

Almost everyone in the world wants this about the USA. Americas military is primarily used for evil purposes. Most foreigners want a more isolationist USA that spends more on things like healthcare and infrastructure.

TTIP is what will fuck Europe up, and Sanders opposes it while the mainstream candidates have been suspiciously quiet on it. TTIP threatens to allow the US to dump toxic pseudo-food products on Europe for cheap, along with giving the rights of multinational corporations to sue governments for "lost profits"

it is way more complicated than that. im not gonna explain the electoral college in 1 post but votes are basically decided by winning a state's majority votes not by popular vote.

Very important for global power politics as there are two candidates that go against the status quo which can have far reaching consequences. Trump is essentially a pig headed isolationist who doesn't give a shit about agreements, if he wins NATO will lose it's legitimacy, he is fairly open about the fact that he considers the Baltics, Ukraine and other states as a part of the Russian sphere of influence which will make NATO lose the tiny drop of legitimacy it has left. I support many of Sanders domestic policies but honestly he is too idealistic and I just imagine him as a sort of appeasement politician, but perhaps I am wrong. If these candidates win US influence in Europe may be diminished which can have unforeseen consequences.

The "average American" is very affected by the US economy, which has extremely close links to the European economy. The disruption doesn't have to be a deliberate cutting of ties. If the Eurozone or EU comes to an end, that will hit US-Europe trade hard. If a European nationalist or a populist is elected in a major European country, then that will have global ramifications. Plus, there are a lot of votes in protectionism, as you must have noticed if you were paying attention to your own elections. So what if it's harmful if that's what the people want then it'll happen.

Do you know any US history? The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930? You guys did that despite it being damaging to your economy.

Because American politics is a fucking circus so it's fun to watch.

Politics is inherently boring, but America manages to make it entertaining. Albeit not in a good way, but still
