You fucks
This cannot be fabricated
For a language that prides itself on being free flowing with lots of liasons and shit this is absolutely hilarious

It's not
Welcome in France
But don't think it's complicated for native French speakers, we barely notice those numbers are composed of several smaller ones, we just know it's this without thinking about it
The nightmare is only for foreigners

Our numbers are comprised of smaller ones too, but 80 isn't 4x20 and 99 isn't 4x20+10+9
и - i = et
9 - devet
10 - deset
90 devetdeset
99 devetdeset-i-devet (one word I'm spiting it to make the point)

I see, yeah it might seem dumb for non French but seriously after all the ??? stuff in our language I thought you wouldn't be this surprised
>>56333841
After being in a French immersion school for years, I only noticed how weird those numbers are once somebody pointed it out to me
>>56334085
I've given it a cursory glance, only to come out with deeper appreciation for English and just how simple it is compared to other languages.
>>56334165
I didn't realize until a similar thread month ago either, especially since people usually just write 99 or 1275 or whatever.
I actually like the numbers in French. It is the charm of the French language.
>>56334198
As you wish lad we don't force people to learn French anyway
English is simpler as a Lingua Franca but I will always prefer French, not really in everyday speech but in literature and similar things
In Irish the numbers are straight forward but they have some hilariously complicated grammar rules
for example
one = aon (written)
one = a haon (when speaking)
one person = duine
one house = teach amháin
6 houses = sé theach
7 houses = seacth dteach
do other languages have these dumb rules?
>>56334468
I don't think we have this in France, but the "worst" part of your post for me is that I have absolutely no idea how to pronounce all this the right way
>>56334425
I'm not making value judgements about which is better.
Most languages sound better than English to be perfectly honest, French in particular.
But I'm glad English is the most popular and not French, German or Russian.
>>56334468
With regards to numbers not so much other than changing them according to the gender of the word
Edin, Edna, Edno something
>>56334546
It's mostly not phonetic at all
7 Houses = Seacht dteach
pronounced 'shocked jock'
