Tasmanian expat here.
Tassie is a wonderful place to visit if you appreciate natural beauty. It has some of the most pristine temperate rainforest in the world and Hobart, the capital city, is set on a large river at the base of a mountain (large geological features uncommon on the Australian mainland) and has a rapidly developing culture and arts scene. There's very little industry there though, so don't plan on moving unless you want to work for the government, own a vineyard of fend for yourself in a hut innawoods.
