Memes aside, just like any other touristic metropolitan city it has several things you shouldn't do.

On the European side anything west of Beyazıt/Laleli is trash, same for anything east of Bostancı on the Anatolian side.

They will rob you blind when they find out you're a tourist. Unless there's a local with you, never use cabs. You should use public transport anyway, it's one of the better things the city has going for itself.

Basically, don't go to any of the touristic or historical places without a local with you. If you were to go by yourself, don't buy/ do anything that you have to pay other than to eat unless you like paying triple the price.
