What are the gun laws like in Britain? I think ours are near the same,except ours are slightly more lenient. Over here you can get whatever caliber you want but the problem is the gun. You're not going to be able to get an AK 47 not because of the caliber,but because of the magazine capacity and it's semi automatic. But,you could probably get a CZ 527 because it is bolt action aswell as 7.62x39.
You can get semi automatic 22lr no problem but you may have difficulty getting anything higher than that in semi. Milsurp rifles are okay and shotguns are usually double barrelled 12 gauge but if you've been a gun owner for a while, you can get a Mossberg pump action.

Gun laws in Britain, an overview:
Everything that is semi-automatic and centrefire is banned. That means no AKs, no ARs.
Everything that is pistol sized is banned, which means that if you want to shoot a pistol you'll need to make it so that it's 60cm in total length or move to another country.
What they can get are manual action centrefire, semi-automatic rimfire and any kind of shotgun (except fully automatic)
UK has no calibre limit though, I've seen people with Boys anti-tank rifles.

It happens during Autumn and winter. We go out in late summer looking for hares, then when we find some,we set up nets around the fields and beat the grass and bushes in order to make them run out and into the nets. Then we train them to run up our coursing fields in a straight line.
Then,coursing season starts in early autumn and basically coursing is two greyhounds, one with a white collar and one with a red,chase after the hare up the field and the first one to make the hare turn wins. Both dogs are muzzled and the hares rarely get hurt (despite what liberals who never even attended coursing would make the masses believe)
Look up Powerstown coursing 2016 to watch. What happens is that there are many coursing clubs spread across the country and each of them have their own meeting and the best dog and bitch from each meeting get into the Derby (Dogs) and Oaks (Bitch) in Powerstown in February. Winner of each tournament gets 35,000.
We're blessed that it hasn't been banned but it only takes one liberal government to destroy that and take away another part of our culture.
