What is LA like in real life? Is it as glamours as the Hollywood movies make it seem?

Fucking hellhole of drugs, blacks, Mexicans, and the worst superficial scum whites imaginable. The whole city falling into the ocean would be a blessing to the continent.

Literally one of the worst cities I have ever had the displeasure of spending an extended period of time in, and I've been to Winnipeg.

It's nice if you like to get shot
Pretty fucking awful. Thank god I moved away from that shithole.

it sucks

who cares, there is a huge chance of being destructed in a massive earthquake in the short term

This. In Orange county right now, fucking miserable. Miles and miles of lifeless suburbia disguised as "gated communities". Cars, roads, business parks and a sickly sweet aroma in the air that permeates through your whole person constantly when you're outside.
No culture. No history. Everything looks built after 1990. It makes me want to puke.

I like shopping there. That's pretty much the only good aspect of the LA.
Sprawl.
it's shit, everything is too far apart and you need a car
if you're obscenely rich then yeah Los Angeles is nice. the town doesn't really cater to middle America, just the poor and the filthy rich

>sickly sweet aroma in the air that permeates through your whole person constantly when you're outside.
this is my favorite part about Cali
I love that smell
Smells like thriving grass
We get that smell here in Jersey in the spring sometimes, on those days I stay outside all day.

You like the smell of smog?
Shittiest city ever it's the opposite of what people thing of it. Now NYC is an amazing city despite being called dirty and crime ridden.
L.A. as a city fascinates me
From an outsider it seems to me like it was a regional Californian city that 13million Americans moved to with the dream of becoming a movie star and living beside the beach
It basically summerises the American dream - I.e your hopes getting dashed
It's fine. I'm deeply suspicious of any American who makes the usual absolutist song and dance about how bad it is as if their city is some bastion of accessible and ancient high culture and would never use a grid.

Looks like Santiago

>What is LA like in real life?
Same as other places.
Great if you have money.
Horrible if you don't (actually better if you don't since you'll have tons of friends, free beaches and sunshine, and tons of drugs to use your free time living on the streets).
>Is it as glamours as the Hollywood movies make it seem?
That's only if you stay around Hollywood, Figueroa street, Beverley Hills, OC, and some other designated places.

That's only the westside less the Koreans who live there.
I like it; good weather, high paying jobs, good food.
I work in IT and there's lots of work, and not the rose-colored slave ship that SF is.
Downside that housing is super expensive now, don't doubt foreign investors are buying anything that comes up for sale.
Traffic sucks but just move near your job and it's a non-issue. I don't understand these people that live 2 hrs away just to own a house way out in San Bernidino.

I get the impression LA up until the early 1980s would have been great to live in though
Back in the 50's living beside the beach surfing everyday , some laugh altoghether
