Personally I think the best balance would be somewhere like Bratislava. As far as I can remember, cost of living there is relatively very cheap compared to Western Europe. The old town is beautiful and so are the women. I was only there for a couple of days though, and I don't know what it's like to live there - the commieblocks in the surrounding area were a bit of an eyesore.
