Question for Romance/Latin language speakers:

To what degree can you understand all other Romance/Latin languages apart from your own?

Rate how well you can understand all others on a scale of 1-10 please. I am very curious.

First of all, when spoken it's way more difficult to understand.
But when written :
Spanish 9/10 (I studied spanish though)
Italian 8/10 (it is way way way closer to french but I never studied it)
Portuguese 6/10
Romanian 4/10

Well, as a romanian speaker, i can pretty much learn all romance language in 1 month.

There is quite a meme here, that romanians need a dictionary and a few hours to learn italian lol

To answer your question, when spoken i can understand 70% of them, and when written around 90%

They're different from each other but often share the same roots and for the most part, grammar.
Italian is the easiest, then Spanish ,then French if spoken slowly and not so nazaly . Sadly, Portuguese is unintelligible to me personally,it's like a Drunk Russian speakins Spanish with all the slurred djjj. No offence, I like the Portuguese.

I actually can understand 10/10 spanish but I studied it.

And no, it is not easy to learn another Latin language that is just a meme, in fact its way more confusing because you end up mixing up the grammar and vocabulary of those languages.
Every language teacher advises you to never try to learn Italian if you already know Spanish or French.

The language spoken by the Suebis(galician-portuguese)used to have the days of the week in its pagan terminology, but then we got a priest that changed it to the christian terminology, and yes, martes, lunes, miercoles bla bla bla are all pagan/roman terminologies and segunda-feira/terça/quarta are all christian terminologies...
It was only present in the suebis, the visigoths and other germanic christians didn't change the terminology
>>

But both the Suebians the Visigoths and the Romans themselves were Christan.
>>

I know, but the suebis had a priest(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_of_Braga) that changed our days of the week from the pagan terminologies to our recent ones...

Portuguese and Italian are somewhat understandable, if both speakers try, you can undrestand more or less what they are trying to say
French is difficult to understand, they have a lot of different words, and their pornuntation si very different.
Never heard/read romanian.

Written, yes. Or a good part of it at least.
Spoken, little to nothing.

You can understand a good part of Italian and Spanish just by having a solid Latin education. After five years of rigorous Latin, and no prior Spanish/Italian education, I can read their texts at least to a 7/10, but producing sentences is a bitch.

The feeling of muteness, you can understand what everyone says but can't counter it or add something to it is crushing. The words are right at the tip of your tongue, but you can't Especially Italian
