If you want African culture go to West Africa. Madagascans are descended from Malays (with slight interbreeding with Swahilis) and have a culture of their own.
I talked to a guy from Africa (no real counrry, he traveled a lot) and his only bullet point on Madagascar is that it has a lot of mosquitoes.

I got South Indian and Southeast Asian in my chart.
It confirmed what I thought for years, my "Indian" ancestors were Malagasy. I think a lot of black Americans with Native American narratives have Malagasy roots.
