Do Russians understand Romanised Russian?

eg: eto ne amerika
>>
Latin letters?
Sure.
>>
>>56068709
On the rise of internet it was popular here. But it was also visual adoptation. Like W=Ш (Sh sound), 9I=Я (ya sound) etc.
For example:
"Saw, prinesi xleba, doma 3akon4ils9I."
(Sash, prin'esi khleba, doma zakonchilsya).
>>
>>56068893
so you just change cyrillic for similar looking characters?
>>
>>56069013
As I said such thing was popular like 10 years ago when there was lack of cyrillic keybords. Some people wrote with usual english translite and some like you say changhinfg the same looking cyrillics letter with latin ones. But now nobody uses both of them since cyrillic keyboards are everywhere and supported by every device. Some people, especially old ones can't even read latin. Not many of them (at least in big cities) but they exist. They will call R a weird reversal hieroglyph etc.

>They will call R a weird reversal hieroglyph etc.
neat, it's the same thing here with cyrillic
>>
>>56069218

wot
>>
>>56069218
is Cyrillic becoming more popular?
>>
>>56069319
I know both Russian and Serbian cyrillic, and I don't even speak the languages.
>>
>>56069316
In Moscow everything happens some years later, in our zhoposran' many people still hadn't them in 2004.
>>56069319
It never was losing. As I said people used latin only because they had to. As soon as there was a chance to drop it they did it.
>>
>>56069436
what's its use to you?
>>
>>56069492
>later
earlier
>>
>>56069319
"More popular"? It's the only appropriate way of writing in Russian for most people.
>>56069316
This. Never heard of such thing.
>>
>>56069608
Yeah.
>>
>>56068709
Russians know Russian and learn a Latin alphabet in school. You calculate the rest.
>>
>>56069502
I want to learn them in the future, I know a little bit, lived with a Russian family for 5 years and visited Moscow for a month. Being able to read cyrillic makes you can at least comprehend and remember words.

I studied Greek-Latin so it was easy. I just wrote them down, and hanged it in my toilet, so every day you sit there at least once looking at it. You'll know it in a week.
>>
>>56069800
how are you supposed to write those things down?

like pic related

you can put words in english next to each letter, to give an example of the pronunciation
>>
>>56068709
Of course, easily. But it's annoying to read long texts in that
>>
>>56070055
ah, i see
>>56070124
is it really much longer?
>>
>>56068709
Ne, ne ponimajem. Уи aлcoy дoн'т aндэpcтэнд poмaнaйзд инглиш. Aй дoн'т гeт yoт ю джacт cэд, фop игзэмпл.
>>
>>56070504
that means no right?
>>
>>56069218
>lack of cyrillic keybords
I had one in 1998 in France's countryside.
>>
>>56070212
It's not longer, you just have to decipher it a little bit in your head, gets annoying quickly
>>
>>56070212
Not longer, but uncomfortable.
When you read a cyrillic script, it's something like you read the whole word or even whole sentence together, it's easy and natural.
But when you read Russian in latin, you read a letter after a letter and then try to compile they together to word. It's harder and longer.
Also, for people who know English, latin script associates with English language, and latin letters automatically interpreted as English sounds, not Russian

The way the letters are changed between scripts is not standardised so reading is not intuitive
