Another thing is traffic. When you land at LAX, you're probably going to get onto the freeway.
The infamous 405. The 5, the 405 and the 101 are major arteries that run through LA and everyone here drives so it's very congested most of the day.
There are times throughout the day when traffic clears up in either direction but for the most part, it's fucked.
Speed limit on the freeway is 65mph and 55mph in workzones. On the streets, it's anywhere from 25mph to 45mph. Cops generally let people go 5-10 mph over the limit, anything above that, ticket, points on your record, etc.
If you go as fast as 90-100mph, you will have to mandatorily show up to court. If you exceed 100mph, you can be arrested. The cops here do not play around and are quick to use force to take control of a situation, just be safe and don't test them. People make this mistake all the time, they think they can get into a shouting match with the LAPD/LASD and somehow walk away from it, it never goes down that way.
