Putin actually seems kind of retarded.

>"You talk about Khodorkovsky, and I talk
about Enron," Putin told Bush. "You appoint the Electoral College and I appoint governors. What’s the difference?"

>At another point, Putin defended his control over media in Russia. "Don’t lecture me about the free press," he said, "not after you fired that reporter."

>"Vladimir, are you talking about Dan Rather?" Bush asked.

>Yes, replied Putin.

>Rather was in the process of stepping down as anchor of the CBS Evening News after a report accusing Bush of not fulfilling his National Guard service turned out to be based on fraudulent documents. Bush explained to Putin that he had nothing to do with Rather losing his job. "I strongly suggest you not say that in public," he added. "The American people will think you don’t understand our system."

He also told Bush that he "knew" that the US had special poultry farms just for Russia, so we could send our bad chicken to them.

No, they're awful. You can learn literally all the things said there in like 5 minutes of reading on a site like ontheissues or similar.
>>

If that's the case I don't understand how anyone favors Sanders then. He normally does not answer the questions and just repeats his stump speech.
>>
>>55047093
His stump speech is a pretty good articulation of his candidacy, though.

I'm not entirely convinced that he really believes that he has a shot at the nomination. But he is trying to take every opportunity that he can to get his message out to as wide an audience as possible. I can respect that. I've watched a lot of presidential debates over the years, and some of the things that he is saying are things that you wouldn't normally hear from a major candidate. It's refreshing, much in the way that Trump is refreshing, except, unlike Trump, it's not retarded or pure entertainment.
>>
>>55047093
It was pretty based when he called out Clinton for name-dropping Henry Kissinger as if Kissinger isn't widely regarded (outside of the Washington sycophant establishment) as a complete piece of shit.

the craziest part was that trump actually started to say a lot of reasonable things - aka showing his true colours (blue)

which very well may end up being his undoing because everyone is eventually going to find out that he is not actually a braindead republican like the rest of them - he just has a few right wing tier beliefs to go along with his liberal beliefs... i guess you could call him purple but hes really just being a pretend republican

the other crazy thing is how they make eachother look so fucking stupid that voting for a democrat seems like the only reasonable choice (however deluded they might be) - or kasch maybe since hes not nuts

But seriously, I'm not so hopeless idealistic that expect a lot of Bernie's plans to work or even get passed by Congress. Why vote for him then? I simply like what he says more than I like anything the other candidates say. Unlike a lot of other people though I ground my expectations in reality. You won't see a great deal of change in this country within the next four years regardless of who gets elected. Trump included. Sanders and Trump will both face massive resistance in Congress. Bernie will face opposition from Republicans and Trump will face opposition from Democrats and establishment Republicans. Anyone else will try to keep the status quo.

That is true however Bush was president in a post-Reagan world. He had more choice in qualified conservative jurists to put on the court than Reagan did. Alito and Roberts were both guys who came up in the 80s during the Reagan Revolution and were more directly influenced by that era. For comparison Reagan was largely stuck with judges who were products of the Warren Court and mid-20th century liberalism.

And even then, Bush still retardedly thought he could appoint his personal legal secretary to the court.

Nobody ever gets completely what they want in a president, there's always a level of compromise. Reagan is still a conservative icon although he signed an amnesty for wetbacks and signed an assault weapons ban two things strict constitutional conservatives would oppose. FDR is still a liberal icon although he put the Japanese in internment camps and was not a fan of straight welfare or of organized labor.

Or the many leftists who think Obanana is a sellout because he failed to produce single payer health care, even though I'm very certain that's what he had planned.
>>
>>55046101
I don't get it...I mean, I hate Jeb Bush, but how would Trump have prevented the world trade center coming down? How could George Bush had known? I disagree with the way he handled things, but no one could have foreseen the act of terror that was 9/11. Airport security would've been the same because the country had no reason to be on high alert until after the WTC coming down. Trump's just using buzzwords to get the crowd loud; why won't these people think?
>>
>>55048718
Because the audience is composed of establishment republicans that donate money to Jeb
>>
>>55048912
It's a dumb thing; Republican suits claim they have to distance themselves from RR, especially when they like to claim it loses them Millenial voters because Millenials were not born/too young to remember him. But Democrats still openly embrace FDR as a symbol of the party though no modern Democrat was around in his time.
>>
>>55048937
I just don't understand why they haven't abandoned Jeb yet since he's doing so shit. It's so weird to such a bias audience. I bet those tickets are expensive as fuck
>>
>>55048926
I agree, he shouldn't have accused Bush (who was in office all of 8 months at the time) of culpability in 9/11 when if anything, Clinton was the guy to blame because he'd had and failed the chance to capture Osama Bin Laden.

If you ask me, Trump is probably banking on the idea that the conservative base does not like GWB and consider him a RINO/sellout/whatever. Which we could split hairs on, but I still think it was rather poor judgement.
>>
>>55048975

If you recall Bush's 2000 platform ("compassionate conservatism"), it was not one of small government. Compassionate conservatism was more like "Forget all those liberal strawmen that Republicans want to take away old people's SS and children's school lunches actually I love giving anyone and everyone under the sun freebies too." Bush eventually tried to justify the bank/auto bailouts by saying something like "I must destroy the free market in order to save the free market."

And while you can argue that Reagan was not at fault for the AWB or 86 amnesty because the Democrats controlled the House, that excuse does not work for Bush because his party had Congress six of his eight years during which time they sponsored numerous large-scale entitlement packages.
>>
>>55049112

I can't say for sure but I don't forget how they all jumped ship to Niggy in 2008. The only demographic that Hillary can relate to in a personal sense are old lonely lesbian cat women.
>>
>>55049287
That isn't true though. The bailouts were passed during the waning months of the Bush Presidency.

Not that it matters of course, it was damn near unanimous and incumbent Congressmen and Senators never lose elections anymore anyway. Had the vote been delayed three months it would have ended up exactly the same.

Yes.

Also Trump isn't even really a conservative. I trust him more than Hillary who is a literal neo-con with a fat side of liar and criminality.

Seriously, how the fuck did she not go to jail for those emails when they proved she had the emails, and also deleted the evidence?
>>
Biggest misstep that Bush made? Something not well remembered now, specifically McCain-Feingold which was a bill deliberately designed to destroy the 1st Amendment. The kicker is that Bush actually said "I oppose M-F; it's blatantly unconstitutional." and then went and signed it into law anyway.

The USSC did eventually chip away at M-F, but it's quite disturbing to think the easy potential for liberal activist judges like Ruth Bader Ginsburg to be in charge of deciding that.
>>
>>55049364
I still wish he would have found his veto pen some time before the 08 campaign started.
>>
>>55048912
How often Rethuglican do forget Reagan and the 86 amnesty.
>>
>>55049548
I don't think it's a fair comparison firstly because Reagan never had a Republican House his entire administration, but secondly Bush supported amnesty when he had the lesson of the 86 one to draw from. If anything, the 86 amnesty should have proven enough that that didn't work, but it didn't stop him from trying an idea already found to be a failure.
>>
>>55049599
True BUT all bills developed by Congress must receive approval from the president in order to become law.
>>
>>55049624
That's true, however you must also understand that Bush never saw himself as the gatekeeper of Congress as some presidents did, rather as a co-partner of them. He quite seldom vetoed anything that landed on his desk, although in his defense he did also veto some bills that would have been an awful disaster for the country.

George W. Bush in a sense was the moderate bipartisan president every talking head on the cable news pines for, yet complains when they actually get.
>>
>>55049463
We both know why. And the fact that even happened in this country is so fucking far beyond unacceptable I want to vomit.

>vote for this neocon for your democratic nominee
>don't worry about it voter, we're openly patronizing you by putting the weight of the DMC behind her
>don't examine her 30 years of failure and criminality
>just vote for her
>because we unironically think you're stupid enough to vote for an establishment republican who gets to pass as a democrat because she at one point in life probably had a gash
Yeah. I mad.
>>
>>55049599
Besides, the total illegal immigrant population in 1986 was about two million, significantly less than what it had become by the 2000s. Amnesty might have at that time been a more viable idea.

I opposed McCain-Feingold like any sane person would, yet there's a quite credible argument for "money =/= speech". I don't agree with it, but it's a credible POV similar to my disagreement that flag burning =/= free speech.

Having said that, I think yes it was a tremendously dumb and irresponsible action of Bush to sign into law a bill that he outright said was unconstitutional.
>>
>>55049792
Not my problem like I said before.
>>
>>55049721
There's the argument that the amnesty bill sponsored by GWB wasn't amnesty in the sense that Obamacare wasn't SPHC, even though that would be the inevitable end result.
>>
THe only one who offers real solutions to anything is actually Jeb, however weak he looks.

Of course the republicans, the most stupid of the already stupid Americans don't care about that. Hilarious.
>>
For all his faults, it could have been worse than Bush. We could have had as president a literal traitor who threw away his Vietnam medals and marched in an antiwar protest with John Lennon.

And it was also profoundly unbecoming of John Kerry and Hillary Clinton as sitting Senators to accuse Bush of lying about Iraq's WMDs when both of them had previously said that Saddam Hussein had them, was going to use them, and was a danger to peace and stability in the region. Not to mention harmful to the war effort in Iraq which led to it dragging on longer and there being more deaths of US servicemen and Iraqi civilians that might have been avoided.

So yes, for all his faults, I'm forever grateful to whatever deity there is that Bush did get reelected instead of Lurch taking over the Oval Office.
>>

Okay so what is Trump going to do different? He doesn't even offer any politics he just blabber about BS "hurr durr make america great again hurr durr hit the establishment hurr durr win again". I actually chekced out his positions on his website and it doesn't even make any sense, he doesn't know what he's doing it's like a meme.

But it's not my election so guess it doesn't matter to me, just sad seeing a once great country getting this destroyed. This is a result of what was started in the 80s by Reagan btw, whether you can see it or not.

A president has six core functions - negotiate treaties with other countries, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, appoint ambassadors, cabinet selection, appoint judges and the veto. Three of the six concern themselves largely with security/international affairs.

Bush appointed two very good constitutional conservatives to the USSC. That will go down as one of the better elements of his legacy. It would have been nice if he'd vetoed bills more often, though TBF the Republican Congress under Dennis Hastert was absolutely terrible and practically Democrat Lite.

His conduct as CnC will make of him one of America’s three legendary war-strategist presidents: Washington, Lincoln, and Bush 43.

Bush 41 failed the Iraqis, Reagan failed the Marines in Lebanon, Truman and Eisenhower failed the Koreans, too many people to count failed the Vietnamese, FDR failed Eastern Europe by condemning them to 45 years of Russian rape, and Wilson was in league with nations hostile to American interests.

War-strategist CnC makes him a steadfast patriot president—if that makes him a conservative, at least in that one endeavor, so be it.

Everything else, an unmitigated Leviathan interventionist disaster. His domestic policies should make him a hero of the leftists, but their hatred of his defense of American interests abroad using armed forces made them blind to his common cause with them.

Fitting for his administration’s end are his last words that will ring forever with infamy: “I have abandoned free market principles.”

But, the even worse infamy his domestic legacy will bear consists of his creation of the Dept. of Homeland Security and its agency the TSA. Having taken over our airports, it will soon unionize.

Once its own union formed, TSA will strike.

I just want to know how he plans to make Mexico pay for the fucking wall.

There's absolutely no way they will ever cave to that demand. I just don't understand how Trump plans to do it. Invade Mexico? Nuke Mexico? Is it really fucking worth it? An offensive that would needlessly cost lives and money and destroy any reputation we have in the international community?

I'm speculating of course but it's pretty sad that my speculation is more detailed than anything Trump has said on the matter. Any time he's pressed for more info it's always "I know a lot of really good people who I will bring in to work on this." That doesn't fucking answer anything!
>>
>>55050097
>this is a convincing argument in America

I've seen your debates. It's just sad how stupid you people are at this point. Fat, lazy and degenerate no-good zombies. I think leadership reflects the people. In the 40s, 50s and 60s you were great people, so your leaders were also great. Look at FDR, do you think a leader like that could come in the 2010s? Can you find normal men with qualities like him?

He's not going to win the primary. He is as much a meme candidate as Bernie. Even if he does win, he's built up so much ill will that most republicans will only vote for him just to try and stop Hillary, and all the independents and most democrats will vote Hiillary to stop Trump.
Truly a time to be alive, where the main candidates of both parties are hated by said parties, and equally corrupt and/or stupid.

There's no reason the US can't get it together though. All it will take is both parties getting shit in their mouths come November. The Americsn people are clearly no longer buying the bullshit the centrists are selling.
>>
>>55046267
Most of these people don't care about that. Bush knew there were no WMDs in Iraq. But Haliburton needed profits. F35 is a disaster, and they try to replace A-10 with it. After the New Deal reforms there were no financial crises. There were jobs and growing incomes.

At some point the Roman empire had paper legions. They were paid wages which were pocketed by senators. When a hegemon gets corrupted, its elites stop giving a fuck about anything except how to extract money and power for themselves.

David Harvey was once speaking to some investment bankers at Wall Street and mentioned that there is a very real possibility that the US will become a failed state. Their answer was: "So you think we should get villas in France?"

They don't like blacks or hispanics and they want a president who just extracts resources from them and gives them to minorities, meaning Hillary, but they also want higher wages and spend government money on roads rather than wars.
