I've only seen Leviathan by him, and it was definitely amazing. Probably my favorite film of that year.

What else by him would you recommend? Also have you seen this, anon?

What kind of films do you normally watch?

>>55024867
Same. The bell sequence, the pagan sequence, there are so many memorable scenes.
>>
>>55023645
Soviet cencors were too stupid to see connection with the Mongol invasion and Bolshevik rule, but instead censored the movie because it had religious content.

japanese doramas or any horror movies. I usually don't watch movies. I don't really like them.

It has classic commie propaganda: the faceless, hard working proletariat and the fascist, individualistic Germans (see the barn burning scene).

Still, its nice to see some Belarussian countryside, virsuja and jalkarättejä and indeed, very psychological and even surreal film elements.
One guy even wears kirza boots, with sole model that was introtruced in the 60's (the tractor tyre style, which is still present in kirza boots made in Russian federation).

It is propaganda, you moron. It's still an exceptional film, though. Now never respond to that Finnish poster again unless you have something meaningful to say.

>>
>>55023552
Good as it is, but horrendous as book adaptation.
Like if somebody would try to film Herbert's Dune by setting events in present day's Saudi Arabia.
Like Clockwork Orange's adaptation but up to eleven.
But like Kubrick, Tarkovsky was genious, so no one cares much, myself including.

>>55024115
Too pretentious imo, he's films are rather shallow. Guy barely understands the world and the people around him.

>>55026057
Kurosawa was good. Shame cartoons were not a thing back in his time, could be a head of great studion.

I bet outside of Russia russian writers is more readable.
Modern russians prefer to watch hollywood movies.

I don't hate my country, but I'm disappointed that any person I've know IRL have no intentions to read any literature at all. Except, maybe, Darya Dontsova's '''''''''''''''literature''''''''''''''''.

It's about how repression of religion in the USSR was bad.
