How equal is your country?

Are you concerned about rising inequality
>>
>>54991967
Notice how the top two economies are 40-45 and therefore unequal.

There's your answer.
>>
>>54992020
That wasn't an answer. In fact it's probably the stupidest non-answer someone could provide. Only an American could have posted something like that and ended it with "there's your answer".

China has enormous population
It's obvious why they have huge economy

They're still a developing country with low GDP per capita

Well, what's the point of being a rich country if actually most people are not rich? Also, the size of the economy of a country is proportional to the number of people living in it

Whats the point of being a wealthy country if no one works?

Great comeback murica.

Poverty also translates to high crime and civil unrest

That's detrimental for all social classes

Come back to this?

Personally I think it should be lessened, but it's not likely to happen

>>54992127
It's accurate enough.
>>54992133
I am actually economically moderate and I dislike neoliberal economics. I was mostly trolling.
Still, in America there's a slightly racial reason for our high inequality. Same for China but there's is because they are still poor per capita.
>>
>>54992252
So let me get this straight, you're talking about how being poor is a bad thing, then suggesting we all be poor?
>>

Mobility in the US economy is still high.

Please get a job Bernie. It wont pay $15 day 1.
>>

Median income is not the proper measurement desu. It's misleading.

The mode is much more accurate here.

>How equal is your country?

Too equal

>Are you concerned about rising inequality

No, I'm for it. Our GINI is like 24 or something, like at least almost the lowest in the world. GINI that low creates a problem with incentives to work, far fewer people with higher incomes wishes to do overtime especially if the overtime won't probably lead to more senior positions in the organization. This is especially true with doctors.
>>
>>54992437
Up and down. Caveat.

That also plummeted since the recession.

The poor will always be poor, the rich will always be rich. The people in these groups change all the time, but the castes are eternal.
Any attempt to change this order would only end in blood, tears and more inequality.

Let the plebs be plebs.
Fuck socialism.
>>
>>54992555
Inequality is going to destroy democracy because it drives poor people to populism

Its actually the same since recession.

>>54992528
I understand income inequality is dangerous for social well being. But many people are wasting their opportunities.

People come to the US from all over the world with nothing, they spent everything they had waiting and getting requirements to travel. If those people can create mobility or sustain themselves, there is no excuse for the welfare class.
>>
>>54992480
Could I have a single source for this?

Sweden is almost as equal and just grew 3.4%. Denmark grew 2.4% without millions of "refugees".

Finland's economy is fucked for much more than just that reason. Make sure you research something before you drink the koolaid and belief it 100%.
>>
>>54992596
Democracy is a born-wreck. It would never work in a planet with dumb people.
>>
>>54992462
>Mode income
So if I have two people making exactly 1 trillion dollars while no one else makes the same income, the Mode Income is 1 trillion according to you.
>>
>>54992540
It represents the income most often recieved in America.

Any measurement like this is inaccurate without adjusting for PPP anyways.
>>
>>54992678
Except very few people make the exact same income down to the cent.

Why do you think it's only the poor people that are driven to populism? True Finns, the "populist" party in Finland, had the parliament group with the highest education level in the last elections and they were also by far the most evenly voted party in the whole. Poor and uneducated people just start doing some stupid shit in the name of populism and that's what usually paints the picture of the whole supporter base. Besides, what do you suggest instead of populism, elitism? All parties that are democratically elected are inherently populistic.
>>
>>54992603
Okay. 2011 isn't what I meant.

Also, am I reading this correctly
"The higher the intergenerational elasticity, the lower the extent of mobility"
That's saying America does not have much generational mobility.

>>

That's literally what "mode" means.
>>
>>54991967
Finally we have the same colour on a map as the us and china. But what does that all mean?
>>
>>54992825
Education isn't for everyone, and when it is, the subjects tend to get simplified so the dumber ones don't fall behind. This way, the ones with more potential get on the same level as the retarded nigger listening to rap during the classes.

Try again.

But it's useless for measuring income. Median gives you a picture of how the middle of the road looks like for a country. Mode doesn't do anything but show you what number employers like the most to pay their employees

>>54992633

I know that the education system isn't all that good in the US of A but even for a community college you should've noticed that I never said that that is the only reason Finland is in trouble. I didn't actually mention anything about our low growth in that, my main statement was that low GINI reduces incentives to work and I specifically stated that doctors are probably worst affected. There are probably no English sources so you can Google translate this if you so desire:

http://www.hs.fi/ilta/06032015/a130591065680

>Sweden is almost as equal and just grew 3.4%. Denmark grew 2.4% without millions of "refugees".

It truly is baffling that Sweden is actually growing that rapidly and there probably isn't just one explanation why Finland isn't:

1) Russia wasn't, isn't and has never been a crucial trading partner for Sweden, the same can't be said about Finland. It wasn't nearly as big as it was in the 80s but if 10% of your foreign trade goes to one country it's still a very big partner and it's quite problematic when that number halves.

2) Sweden's labor market isn't the most elastic in the world but it's more elastic than ours. Also in Sweden they have about 5-10 labour strikes/year and in Finland we have 100-150.

3) Sweden is a richer country that has far more big strong corporations that are doing fine. We had Nokia and even though it's maybe making some kind of a comeback, there is no similar wonder as there was in the 90s.

http://www.vatt.fi/file/vatt_publication_pdf/k162.pdf

Here is a report from the governmen't economic study center, the first sentences in the summary tell quite a lot about our problems:

"Suomalaiset työmarkkinat ovat erittäin kattavasti järjestäytyneet. Korkea järjestäytymisaste
ja siitä seuraava ay-liikkeen vahva asema luovat työllisyyden kannalta haitallisia
palkkapaineita."
