lmao, I know exactly that feeling, and to me that's one of the things that matters the most. I used to (and to some extent still do) dream about taking a train and some hours later finding myself in a completely different country, full of culture and historical stuff(another thing that we don't exactly find here).
Have you travelled through your country, though? I assume it must not exactly be cheap, but at least it's not as far away. I'm actually thinking about visiting Tierra del Fuego, as it looks like a really nice place and some kind of "poorman's Scandinavia/Alps" (although I'm being quite unjust with Patagonia here, as it seems as good as Scandinavian fjords and such).
