It's impossible for anything to emit "cold". The only thing that is physically possible to emit is energy (see electromagnetic spectrum), which makes atoms hit by it faster, colliding with other atoms and making everything hotter (the hotter, the more atoms are crazy).
Also, a giant ball of ice would melt halfway the path to the sun, since our sun is hot as fuck and emits a lot of energy through Hydrogen fusion (not lava).

First of all, cold is the lack of heat, when there is cold, there is little energy (of course this is relative).
If magically chemical reactions in the sun gave a "cold" energy instead of a "hot" energy (no such thing because the first paragraph) and earth remained with the normal reactions, we would freeze to death. The energy in the form of heat is the thing that maintains the earth in a liveable temperature, the earth itself wouldn't be able to maintain it on itself because a finite mass produces a finite energy
