Pronunciation and word length is an absolute cunt and because its so difficult i have difficulty remembering and identifying words in lessons. Put about 50 hours in and it hasnt got any easier.
I dont have nearly as many reasons to learn mandarin (ok i have non except i like the food and the writing system is interesting) but i find it so much easier to remember 3-5 letter words.
But Russia has better women, more interesting history, more interesting politics, nicer people, more internet users on western internet, etc.
I have considered learning Old English for autism reasons but it wouldn't be a very pragmatic endeavor.
I might give Persian/Farsi a go.
I legitimately like Esperanto. It sounds cool and I've watched Incubus starring William Shatner subbed and it was nice.
The only thing stopping me is how autistic and left-leaning the community is.

I grew up in Japan and spent a few semesters in college studying it officially but I haven't had a single person to speak Japanese with since I graduated, and I don't watch animu so it's been kind of a waste of time......

I started learning Estonian 2.5 years ago and I fucking loved it, I was doing 5+ hours of studying Estonian every day and was improving very quickly.
However, after a couple of weeks of doing that summer ended and I started university, which made me put that on hiatus. But I think eventually I want to get back into it.

Not really, other than shitposting in /balt/, watching the occasional youtube video in estonian (and being able to partially understand), and listening to some Estonian music here and there.
Mind you I was only learning for a couple of weeks. And there are a few Estonian books which seem bretty good and which actually aren't translated in English. For example, "Mees, kes teadis ussisõnu" (The Man Who Spoke Snakish) is only translated in French, not in English, and according to Estonians who I've talked about it with it's really neat, especially if you're an Estophile.

I want to learn Dutch, I know a few cute Dutch girls.
I've studied bits and pieces of a few different languages. I just can't find the inspiration to fully learn a second language to fluency due to the fact that I'd never be using it.
I live in a 100% white community in central Appalachia so the only thing spoken in daily life is English. Both sides of my family are 100% British in origin so I have no language to learn for muh heritage purposes, and I don't have a religion like Catholicism, Judaism, or Islam to inspire me to learn Latin, Hebrew, or Arabic.
Really the only time I encounter foreign languages is while shitposting on /int/.
I may learn Swedish just because of how similar it is to English so I can shitpost in sverigetraden.
I'm currently learning German.

Mandarin and Shanghainese. I tried learning Shanghainese when my Mandarin was still at a low level, but that was quite hard. Now that my Mandarin is all right, I can just use Mandarin materials for learning it.
