I'm not into cage fighting , but point-based sparring sports like Tae Kwan Do are a lot of fun. At my old teacher's studio, the owner was an electrical engineer and patented his own electronic score keeping system to count hits during sparring sessions. It's sort of like fencing but with your body, lots of fun.

There are strong elements of this nature in mma. Don't let meatheads wearing tapout shirts sporting tribal tattoos turn you off from a fascinating sport that can teach us a lot about ourselves.
Just because it's "cagefighting" (in many organizations contests were held in a boxing ring) doesn't mean that these fighters don't need to take a studied, intellectual approach to their craft. I agree there are problems with mma culture and some fighters are absolute degenerates but don't let them spoil it.
MMA got a generation of people interested in combat sports, and people who lost interest got back into it. Boxing is fucking dead. Way she goes.
