My collection has expanded.

Many countries still missing, most notable India, Pakistan, Japan, China. All of the African countries but South Africa. Feel free to chime in and post more if you have.

Starting with Australian dogtags, based on the Imperial British identity discs, but with +100% badassery added to it

It's the same design as the US, minus the writing on it, which is either hand made or has emblems on it denoting the regiment in which one serves.

Denmark. Shameless stolen off Wikipedia.
It's ugly IMHO, only Belgian plaque is uglier. But at least looks comfortable to wear.

Estonia. I think it's the same design for Russia. Saw some with Cyrillic writing on a market by the Kremlin. The guy offered personalized engraving.

France. French armed forces have 3 different set of dog tags. Pic shows Navy (round) and Army (squared). Foreign Legion uses the round one with different writings on them. I can't find anything regarding the Air Force, and would apreciate the help of a fellow French on the subject.

The oldest form of identification known to soldiers, and the oldest design award goes to Germany.

They kept the same style from Prussia through the troubles of the times, until today. Good job!

Impero Britannico.jpg

British Empire. Made of Bakelite or compressed asbestos, these dog tags have been ditched recently in favour of a more bland style.

Canadian war museum says the colours where different so the illiterates and the ignorants could easily identify which one to take and which one had to stay on the body: blood is red, and since blood was spilled it had to go. Green is grass, and as the body had to lie on the ground, it had to stay with the body.

All the countries under british domination used this style at some point.

On a side note, for Rhodesia fags, once independent said country had developed their own dog tags, which had the same shape of the imperial ones, but were made out of metal and had a leather lace.

Are there special tags for people with metal allergies? Cheap metals like nickle gives me blisters, I've wondered how armies handle that.

>>53883100
Can't find the spanish ones, as I cannot into spanish. /lat/ general just ignored me, so, tough luck today.

>>53883184
Yes. If you are allergic to metal, you can wear your dog tag with a piece of surgery tube around the ballchain, and stretching and US silencer around the Canadian dogtag. Or buy a replica of the Imperial British, which is metal-free

It's the same as the old Imperial british model. But made out of metal.

I would be really, really grateful if you could contribute to the thread, especially New Zealand, Croatia, Albania, all the african countries and the middle east ones.

The US style is also shared with Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Greece, Turkey and Cameroon. Possibly others, I don't know for sure. Proof is essential here.

A shame no one contributed. Last pic: misc historical dog tags. On etsy you could buy repros of the US round style. Tried to buy them this week, no more available. I'll have to make them myself. Fuck this planet.

Cool thread фaм. Never seen finnish ones before, pretty cool.
>>
>>53880933
where did you get these and for how much? i wouldnt mind collecting them myself
>>
>>53887046
ebay and etsy, mostly. Never buy directly from shops if you're oversea, else if you have any issue your emails will just be trashed. Or they will offer you refunds, after you send them back the defective item. And you pay for it.

Price varies greatly. Australians are pricy, US are the cheapest available. Historical reproductions can be obtained for a good price.
