Chicago is a shitty city and I don't wanna die in a tornado. I like Minnesota though, and des moines was a comfy small, albeit a lil boring, city.

>Yes. I take pride on correcting Americans on what is actually cold and what is not. Do you have a problem with that?

Wind chill is a more precise measure of the subjective relation of cold with regards to human sensation. Do you have an issue with extra precision you goddamn autist? No, that's not it, you're just being petulant for the sake of lecturing a thread full of Americans. Go crawl back to your anime echo chamber you sissy little cuck.

Southern and northern Minnesota is as cozy as can be. Friendly people, cool places to go, cozy places to camp, bluffs, hills, plains, lakes, the works. We also are just an all around great place to live with lots of jobs and a decent education system. I love it here. I'm so lucky I grew up here.

>Wind-chill or windchill, (popularly wind chill factor) is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of air.
>EXPOSED SKIN

How much exposed skin do you have when it's below -25 celsius outside?
What if you're in a forest, in a tightly built urban area? Somewhere where the wind doesn't reach?
What if you're wearing actual winter clothing?

When I look at the temperature, I'm not interested in how my face feels when it's in the wind. What I want to know is the actual temperature, so I can dress adequately for what I'm doing.

just an absurdity, after all, you americans use the imperial system, say 3/22/15 instead of 22/03/15, put the dollar sign in front of the money like $15...

>>
>>53758713
>>53758303

No it isn't. It's a matter of practicality. People want to know what it feels like outside. They're going to bundle up regardless. You are being autistic morons and contrarians for the sake of it, but that is par for the course. How the conditions feel on your skin are in fact more relevant than the possibility of it ever reaching absolute zero outside you faggots.

also, to add. We usually show both objective temperature and wind chill side by side, for the sake of convenience. So really, you're crying about nothing. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.
>>
>>53758044
We measure windchill because it can make a day feel far colder than it actually is. You'd be making a mistake to dress for 30 F weather when the windchill makes it 5 F (this happened where I live recently.)

>>53758727
I thought you got so buttblasted you wouldn't answer. Now if you could only swallow your pride and admit that the usage of Windchill as you Americans do is pointless and stupid.

>>53758757
>People want to know what it feels like outside.
Windchill doesn't answer that. It answers how cold it seems to be on your exposed skin when facing the wind andwalking into it at 1.4 metres per second.

It does nothing to answer how cold it actually is and how cold, (or not) you feel under your clothing, which is the vast majority of your body.

>>53758811
>We measure windchill because it can make a day feel far colder than it actually is
Or you could just measure the wind and anyone who's not retarded would realise that it feels colder on exposed skin.

>You'd be making a mistake to dress for 30 F weather when the windchill makes it 5 F
You'd be making a mistake to dress for 30F. What you should dress for is a windy 5F weather. What you'd need to do is cover exposed skin instead of putting on warmer clothing.

If you're into camping or water activities, going up to the northern part of the state would be the best, although there's many state parks which are nice. There's fishing, Mall of America, the bluffs in south east MN, Niagara Cave is neat too.

I think so. I fucking love Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and parts of South Dakota, Missouri, Iowa, and Indiana. I've never been to North Dakota. Kansas and Nebraska aren't worth going to.

Nothing is better than a Midwestern Christmas, though.

Unless you really dislike the weather (which I do not - I love weather for the most part), most of the Midwest is a more enjoyable place to live than the Sun Belt.

Imo, the Sun Belt is one of the most boring fucking places to live, unless you live way outside of civilization.

Chicago is a fantastic city. People who talk about it being dangerous either live in/near one of the few shitty neighborhoods that every city has, or are fed bullshit by the news. I've never had a problem in that town. Santa Fe, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, on the other hand, plenty of problems.
