My father's side of the family do. But my father basically cut ties with them until his marriage with my mother, and always refused to have them help him in basically any way. Political differences fucked up their relationship for a long time.
I mean, we were not poor or anything. Journalism and Law pay decently, even though my mother didn't get paid often, what she does is mostly activism, for example defending workers who trashed their workplace while on strike or helping political refugees. I would say we were upper middle class. But that's nothing compared to my paternal family. To give you an idea, my grandpa now lives in the family's castle, all of my cousins went to the best private schools, traveled all over the world, some got stuff like an apartment at New York for their 18th birthday, and they could retire now if they wanted.
Sometimes it felt a bit weird at family gatherings, but eh. They are all good people, if maybe a bit disconnected from reality.

Yes we have, a while back, I will be studying in Ireland during the summer it seems, but I'm jealous that you get to spend an entire year in the UK probably especially when its probably cheaper than paying regular tuition at my school.

oh yeah, we eventually did, but when Newfoundland became Canadian they were still a North Atlantic Banana Republic, with no export other than fish and some mining.
Nowadays, they've diversified to a point, with a lot more coal/iron mining and oil, as the Hibernia Oil fields to their east are really rich
since they are the easternmost point of the americas, they are big for naval navigation and international shipping
hopefully they get more industry soon though
