This is me reading a simple French dialogue. Can you give me pointers on what I'm pronouncing wrong, and how my accent stacks up against the average American or Brit? Do I have that intolerable English north american accent ?

While it's obvious that you're not a native speaker you don't sound American or Brit at all.

Try to speak a bit faster and give it more tone

This is me while speaking more naturally. In the first recording I was trying as hard as I could to sound Quebecois. This is just me speaking without trying to compensate for my English accent, and I'm speaking a bit faster to sound more natural.

Is this better? Do I sound more English/American?
