if you ask the common people, thats what they will always answer. in terms of power, eocnomy and diplomacy, german unification was a success

Pretty much this, there would still be a economic and social division between these two regions, after reunification. ROK would need to inject trillion of dollars in infrastructure, administration and social programs to be able to support the additional population and properly absorb the Northern territories. But the initial issues can be offset by interesting possibilities in the long-term, the natural resources available in the North and the drastically increased pool of skilled workers after a generation or so can really provide boost for ROK's economy.

>great power like germany?

Last time Germany was a great power was when men with proper mustaches roamed the earth.

>culturally very similar
>both speak the same language
>were the same fucking country for most of history
>broke up over a communism/capitalism conflict which is long settled now
>both countries want a reunification under their government respectively
it's not unlikely.

Probably, in the long term.
Earliest realistic scenario? SK using a potentially non-existent window when the current Kim dies; i.e. realistically half a century off. Other than that only astronomical habbenings come to mind.
Although there are few precedents it'd be unwise to compare their situation to our's. They've demonstrated that they don't need the North but it'll be a constant destabilizing factor.

Germany has base of superior culture and human resources, but if subhuman country annex subhuman country, that country will be extreme subhuman country. Descendants of slaves can only be Imperial parasites.

>SK wants reunification
Sauce?

Haven't read much on the subject, but I've always been under the impression that reunification would create a nightmarish strain on the welfare state in SK. Northerners would have to be quickly re-integrated in pretty much every aspect of modern culture, crime rates would probably go up, there is already a stigma on Norks who make it in to the South. Southerners can spot one of them on sight, not sure how.

No. East Germany was a communist shithole, but it was the richest and most developed communist shithole (other than the Soviet Union perhaps).
North Korea on the other hand is literally starving.

>not sure how
North Korean dialect is distinct enough for native speakers to at least find it unusual. That and North Koreans don't use nearly as much loanwords like South does.
