Hiragana and Katakana (including all the diacritics and subscripts, because these make sense to everyone; the way they change sounds is entirely intuitive and based on the physiology in our mouths) can be learned in a week without working too hard
Although there are that many characters in existence, many of them are just variant forms that you will never see, and if you do see them it is obvious what the character is (the difference is either very slight or otherwise totally obvious).
You really have to learn maybe 2500 of them to become capable of learning the vocabulary needed to be fluent. How fast this happens depends on one's dedication.
And the combination of Kanji and Hiragana/Katakana actually make spaces entirely unnecessary—you will never be confused about the boundaries between words if you are reading something written with ample Kanji.

Also from experience. I developed a taste aversion to like 4 things because of a bad case of food poisoning when I was a kid. My parents were so frustrated with me they took me to a doctor who told me we associate the misery of food poisoning with what we most recently ate cause thats what we see coming out of us.
But food poisoning isn't caused by undigested food, which is what we puke up. It's caused by bacteria, and they take some time to fuck you up.

Yes, and the culprit is Bacillus cereus. Before the 1970s, B. cereus
(pronounced B. serious) was not thought to cause outbreaks of food
poisoning in the United States. However, it now is known that different
strains of this commonly found spore-forming bacteria cause two different
forms of foodborne illness.
The first form often is found in meats and vegetables and produces a
toxin that is destroyed easily by heating. The second form, however,
produces a toxin that survives high temperatures as well as acidic
conditions. This is the form commonly associated with fried rice. Pasta
products also have been implicated as sources.
The organism itself frequently is found in uncooked rice and may
survive cooking. If the cooked rice is then held at room temperature, the
bacteria multiply and produce a heat-stable toxin that can survive brief
heating, such as in stir frying.

I despise foreigners (mostly English-speaking) coming here to get English teaching jobs that is barely better than McJobs and still thinks they are entitled to everything and they need not learn Korean because English is the only language worth speaking.

rice was a potentially hazardous food.
Luckily, B. cereus food poisoning usually lasts only six to 24 hours
and seldom is associated with long-term complications. Regardless, any form
of food poisoning is best avoided.
How does one avoid B. cereus food poisoning? Treat cooked rice as you
would a cooked meat product. Refrigerate leftovers promptly in shallow
containers to encourage rapid cooling. If you're cooking rice for use later
in fried rice, refrigerate the cooked rice in shallow containers within one
hour of preparation. Keep cooked rice refrigerated until ready to stir fry.
Once prepared, keep fried rice hot (above 140 degrees Fahrenheit) until
ready to serve.
The problem with this is that it goes against all the food safety principles i know.
I was taught to NEVER put hot things in the fridge. To always let them cool to room temp then refrigerate.
If you don't, it gives off its heat to everything else in the fridge bringing everything to warm enough temps to allow bacterial growth.
