This is what poor people have to eat for one whole week in America.
>>
>Americans need to be poor in order to be thin
>>

God, that picture pisses me off. If they can't find a job they should fucking starve, the worthless parasites, and now they complain that they're not getting enough free shit? Un-fucking-believable.
>>
>Buying only vegetables
What poor dumbass pays $30 for Vegan kibble
>>
>>53072016
maybe they shouldn't have imported so many fucking immigrants then

What a shit selection. This is basically proof that rich people can't shop for shit.
I can eat pretty hearty on $29 a week. Not a lot of variety, but get my nutrition and not starve.
>>
>>53072016
Bullshit, then why are poor people so fat?
>>

1. they're stupid
2. crap food is cheap, easy, and tastes good
>>
>>53072016
In a high end vegan boutique in L.A maybe.
You can buy 5 lbs of potatoes for $1, and other vegetables for not much more. Bread is 70 cents a loaf, and meat can be bought cheap if bought frozen. The "healthy food is expensive" meme is retarded, and so is thinking families on food stamps only get $29 a week.
>>
>>53072250
Because food stamps can buy chips, sugary soda, and candy.
Also, rather than buying healthy foods in bulk (like dried beans and rice) people buy boxed mac and cheese or other processed garbage.

Eggs, oats, beans, chicken breasts etc can be as well. I lived off these foods cheaply, easily for a while. /fit/ as fuck too.
>>
>>53072271

Maybe in the fucking South, not where I live in California.
>>
>>53072016
What's wrong with that? Looks pretty good if you did it right.
>>
>>53072271

How garbage is that bread? There's 99c bread here but it's like eating card board. I'd only use it for stuffing.

How much does chicken breast cost in the US? Here it's like 10€/kg at it's cheapest.

Not mad at them or the system, moreso mad at how the government knows cost of living is sky-high yet the states do jack shit about minimum wage.

Also fuck 'mentally ill' people
>>

It's not garbage, my bogan friend, its actually very tasty.
>>
Wow, it must be horrible to get money for doing fucking nothing, I can't even imagine. Poor americans.
>>
>>53072449

Where the fuck do you get bread for seventy cents a loaf in LA? I'm calling bullshit.
>>
It's many headaches and jumping through lots of hoops; but it's free money. So how much can somebody really complain about it? I'm confident that if it wasn't in place I would probably have been homeless by now, so I'm very grateful that it exists. You don't get much money by any means, but if you're smart it's enough to survive usually. The downside is that there are shitheads out there that think it's okay to abuse the system for years on end and don't even try to get off of it. But then they'll still complain when the govt wants to make the welfare system more strict to try and catch out cheats like them.
>>
>>53072531
You've never had boliyo? It's actually cheaper, its around 25 cents a roll.
>>
>>53072510

I'm jealous if it's decent, can't spend less than $3.50 here for an alright loaf of sliced bread
>>
>>53072016
How the fuck is this 30 dollars?
Eggs 4$ (being generous)
Lettuce .79$
Avocado .50$
Onion .30$
Green onion .50$
Corn .30$
Tomato .30$
Garlic .30$
Limes 1.40$
Cilantro .50$
Tortillas ~3$
frozen peas 2$
Rice 1.50$
Serrano .20$
Sweet potato .50$
Beans 1.50$

Under 20 dollars, some of these are generous others like rice and beans are the cheapest brands. These are foods I get all the time but maybe these people live in shit states that charge out the ass for produce.

Every single piece of produce on here I can get for under a dollar except for limes where are 4 for 1 dollar year-round

Also their dish planning is shit, almost all of their shit is planned around one meal of tacos with 500 vegetables added to it instead of just some fucking tortillas and beef
>>
>>53072720
Nah American bread is shit

Honestly I don't think any mass-produced bread or dough(which most "bakeries" get frozen) is good here. I like the buttermilk or potato bread from Orowheat I think and that's like 3.50 or 3.99, but it's about the only stuff I can stomach. Big loaves here are basically so fucking dry and crusty they're inedible unless used for garlic bread
>>
>>53072358

I've tried the dollar bread from Aldi. Yeah, it's not great, but you're still having a bit of wank desu senpai.

If you seriously added $10 a week in meats to the foods pictured you'd have some damn good meals.

What a load of shit. I worked at an outdoor recreation company one summer as the cook when I was a fucking teenager. I was able to buy a week's worth of food for 12 people and I only spent $60.00 max. If you can make shit from scratch and know how to plan simple healthy meals you can work off of any budget.

vegetable and fruits are expensive, why don't he buy bread, potatos and some other cheap shit, ffs?
I have no idea how the welfare system works in here but I am pretty sure that if you have the minimum wage (aka no welfare at all), then you are lucky to have 29 USD per week for food (in the case you pay rent or services)
>>

I can to buy 100 kg of carrots.

It probably does when you're buying organic in some grocery store for rich people

Honestly though, poor people would spend it all on the McDonalds dollar menu.
>>
>>53079113
well yeah. you can get ten pounds of rice for $5 at Walmart. If you went to an authentic mexican crack den you could probably get it a lot cheaper.

>have $29 food budget
>start with organic limes

Also people on food stamps often have other income. The $29 is there to *supplement* their spending, not replace it.

Actual maximum values are attached -- up to $45/week for a single person. Since I live in and expensive area and rarely spend that much on food outside of drinks I get really tired of hearing what a hardship it is.

$29?!?!? Is this like that bullshit chart that Republicans made last year saying that $250,000 a year is barely scraping by after their $400 meals and $30,000 preschool tuition? I guarantee this dumb bitch went shopping at WholeFoods and donated $28 to help corporate overloads afford a new yacht.

You can literally get everything in her picture for around 10-12€. What the fuck are you doing with 7 limes anyways? Margaritas in the evening?

I live on food stamps and this is retarded
your ebt card get charged at the beginning of the month. you go to costco or walmart and buy your food supply for the month. buy in bulk and try to get the most for your buck, that means don't buy organic shit they sell at whole foods. then try to just ration out your food supply for the month, you'll probably run out (usually you run out with like a week left till next month) but since you leave a little still on your ebt card you can go back and get more food to survive for the rest of the month.

you have to be retarded to shop like that, maybe I just know how to shop poor since my family lines been poor for centuries but no poor people I know would buy all that organic shit.
