Ausfags, what's the furtherest inland you've been?
>>
Ask you mother, given how big she is.
>>
How busy it is inland anyway? Is it a desolate wasteland that is continuously empty? Or is it generally busy due to cars.
>>
Not an Ausfag, so maybe the inner portions of Perth or Brisbane.

So people usually fly from city to city rather than just drive?
I was wondering due to crime, seems kind of easy to kill someone and dispose of them there
>>
I've been to Alice Springs which is right in the centre.
>>
How do you guys drink water? There's literally no lake or some shit there
>>
What is considered the center? Alice Springs or Ayers Rock?

I've been to both, travelled down the Stuart Highway from Darwin to Adelaide
>>
>>53068412
People probably drive down the east coast, but fly to Perth.

Not Aussie so I can't say for sure, though.
>>

No one would actually go out all that way just to dump a body.

I own a 332,000 acre piece of land in central Aus that I've never even been to. Every few years I give energy companies permission to run surveys on the land, but to this date they've never found anything of worth. I'll probably donate it to the state when I die.

Inherited it. My grandfather owned this piece of land, as well as farm land around the country. I got the huge worthless piece, while my cousins all got profitable farms to live off. I'm by no means ungrateful I got it, but it gets annoying when they all act like I got the best bit while they earn hundreds of thousands a year for doing nothing lol.

>>53068854
No taxes that I know of. As I said I've never been there. When my grandfather died I signed management of the land over to the local authority to run land surveys and stuff. I have no role in managing the land at all.

>>53068875
I'm hoping sea water levels really do rise and create that inland sea you see on maps. It'd probably do wonders for the land.

>>
>>53069035
>sea water levels
The thing about Australia is that it's salty as fuck. As our water table rises it actually kills plant life. The way to prevent this is to have lots of native trees, because they've adapted by having a central super-root which sustains the tree using highly saline water straight from the table.

I don't actually know if a rising water level in Central Australia would improve your land or make it even more barren. I only looked at this stuff for a unit of year 12 Geography.

I reckon most Aussies would recommend you just go to the more rural and coastal places instead of the capitals like Melbourne or Sydney. Most places there are just super expensive tourist traps and if you don't know much about the cities you wont find any of the better areas to meet locals.

Depends on where you're talking about because inland covers an expanse of land big enough to fit most of Euroe it. But generally speaking, it isn't busy. Not a lot of people there, towns are small, shops shut early. Only places that see activity after dark are take away shops and pubs.
>Is it a desolate wasteland that is continuously empty?
Again depends. If you're talking about country towns then yes there are buildings, people and activity. But there are lots of places in inland Australia where even Abos don't live.

Lots of people still drive long distances, if they have a lot of shit to bring witht hem; but generally it is a shitload better to fly. Turn a ten or twelve hour drive into a one hour flight.

I don't know if they go all the way to central Australia, but there's definitely been killers that dump bodies inland or in national parks, state forests. Your Ivan Milats, your Bradley Murdochs, those kinds of guys.

Not far. I'm from Tasmania so some place in the centre of our main island is probably the furthest I've been inland. On the mainland, Canberra is probably the furthest I've been.

There are very little (good) reasons to travel into the outback.

I drove Perth- Exmouth- Perth-Albany-Perth-Laverton-Warburton-Alice-Koober Pedy-Adelaide. then flew to Syndey for Xmas, flew down to Hobart after NY and drove the ring road around Tas(lovely place, would recommend a visit) and flew to Melbourne. Then drove Melbourne-Sydney-Coffs-Byron(again, recommend)-Brisbane-Noosa-Magnetic Island(run into the outback and hide if someone tries to take you here)-Cairns and then off to Bali. The centre has a few people about, not many though. There is a man in a van on the state broders who takes your fruit, and you meet people once a day or so on the road.

Good. I wouldn't like to live anywhere else. Statistically, we earn the least money and we have the lower literacy and numeracy scores, but to use anecdotal evidence, the dumbest and poorest people I know are all mainlanders. That of course doesn't change statistical facts, but I'm just trying to get across that you wouldn't know that we're poor/dumb if it wasn't for me telling you the figures.

We're quite white, in fact we're the whitest state in the country. I think white people make up around 90-95% of our population, and most of use are English-heritaged (as are a majority of white people in Australia).

Our weather is pretty good. Mainlanders say that Tasmania is "cold" but in reality our winters go from about -5C (23F) to about 15C (59F), while our summers get close to 40C (104F).

Unlike the mainland, there is 0% desert in Tasmania. We're characterised by our unique flora and fauna, given that we're composed of grassland, rainforests and mountains and boast animals like the Tasmanian Devil. Because of this, tourism is a big part of our state economy.

That's what Tasmania is like, my Big Strong American friend. Please inject tourism dollars into our economy.

if I had 3-4 weeks and wanted to see a lot I would either stick East and either travel the coast road Melbounre to Cairns or hit Sydney - Melbourne -Tas and fly back to Sydney. West you can do the same but outside Perth its sparsely populated but the SW has amazing forests and lovely beaches with small towns dotted around. Going north to exmouth takes a couple of days but there are some fantastic lonely beaches, great diving and Hutt River Province. With 3-4 weeks a lot f planning could take in a huge amount as everything tends to be along 1 road outside the cities in any parrticlar direction.
