Mad Max's world goes to shit because Saudi Arabia and Iran go to war and destroy all the Middle East oil fields. Causing world wide oil shortages and wars for control the remaining oil. Leading to the nuclear powers to nuke each other.
Luckily we live in a more enlightened age. Where we can just frack, oil sand, or lift Russia's sanctions. So the Kebab Oil is no longer that important.
