It was a time when I literally had no friends and an extremely old laptop that couldn't run any games.
The only way to be up-to-date in the vidya world was through watching walkthroughs with shitty commentary by faglords who make thousands on youtube just by playing gaems.

just watch no-commentary walkthroughs, for example recently I watched Alien: Isolation, the entire Let's Play had no commentary which was nice

Overall, if the commentator is constantly trying to forcefully be funny (e.g. pewdiepie, markiplier, etc.) then you can be 100% sure that it's going to be cancerous shit, because that commentator is pandering to an audience of literal 12-year-olds who actually find that crap funny.
