You realize Europe was mostly Africa tier savages until the Roman Catholic Church started civilizing them right?

You realize civilized Europe has contributed the most to the world, including but not limited to the unintentional founding of the United States of America...right?

Not to mention all the cultural achievements led by that.

But for what purpose? What did it amount to? He still was a sad poor virgin beggar camel-jockey until the day he died. At the time it meant nothing. Louix XIV: has a good portrait, hundred years war and france is cool
Napoleon: elder god, greatest man to ever walk the earth
Louis Napoleon: Chassepot is a cool gun and he had good facial hair
Fredrick II HRE: cool guy liked birds and shit
Charles V: liked to fuck horses while speaking in german
Vivaldi: fav composer
Berlioz: good composer
Wagner: pretty damn good composer, prob second fav
von Goethe: faust was a good book
Marcus Aurelius: bretty good roman emperor desu

Newton's work is not a rip-off, and his notation is still used in physics.

Also, Newton did way, way more than independently discovering calculus. Look at his achievements in mechanics, optics and the universal law of gravitation. Combinatorics too.

He's literally top three of all time

Those are not independent from calculus. It's a shit ripoff, he didn't even bother with notating integrals. Leibniz wrote philosophic angles 300 years a head of his time aswell. If he's top 3, Leibniz is the sole winner.

OP asks for talented people.

People start listing important people.

There is a difference goddamnit

Anyway, da Vinci is not a bad callfor how many things he was unbelievably good at. Michelangelo is another since he was both a master sculptor and painter.
>>
>>53024641

I'm correct, you are very wrong, but I'll elaborate.

>Newton plagiarized Leibniz

For this awfully incorrect belief you hold, read this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leibniz–Newton_calculus_controversy

Written by people who know more about the issue at hand than both of us (especially you), and it disagrees with your statement. Take the time to read it, it's an excellent article.

As for Newton's other achievements, here is a small, non-exhaustive list

>Newton's laws of motion
>Theory of gravitation
>Conservation of momentum, angular momentum
>generalized binomial theorem
>properties of prisms
>invention of reflecting telescope

And many more. This is far beyond what any other scientist save for one or two has achieved.

As for philosophy, trashed, and philosophy majors are especially trashed.

>Who is the most talented person in history in terms of what they managed to achieve?
> in terms of what they managed to achieve
Define "achievement".

Leonardo da Vinci ought to be regarded as a genius with one of the widest range of interests and successful ventures in those same interests.

Newton, Einstein and the numerous other scientists of more modern times had more noticeably niched fields of research, but at the same time discovered more in those fields.
