Well that's because our racing stayed more homegrown for a long time with regular guys racing their own hot-rodded street cars on local tracks vs millionaires racing super high tech vehicles that are barely recognizable as cars anymore.
We do have Formula 1 but it never really catches on because it's almost as disconnected from the average guy as airplane racing.
