We had a good bit of exchange students from there at my uni actually.
I was scanning passports for the department and quite a few of them were from Oman. It was the first time I think I had even heard of the place. I remember one of the dude's passports smelling like it was drenched in cologne.

It's pretty gay place to be honest. Or they aren't gay, but they just want to have sex with men. I went to a cafe and there was a group of guys and they immediately started eyeing me and sent the waiter to bring me anything I wanted. Oman is a nice, rich country. It doesn't have skyscrapers, but its quality of life is high.
Its population is Ibadi Muslim, which is neither Sunni nor Shiite. So they're pretty much the definition of "peaceful Muslim".
Basically Oman is the most (and only) based Arab country.
