Writing and Speaking are two very different things
/int/ isn't a good representation of foreign countries, and even on /int/ a lot of the non-english speakers have minor problems speaking English

It's like that in the UK, Australia & NZ too. Probably, more so because vast majority of people in the UK, Aus & NZ are descendant from people who come from the UK, unlike the US where a lot are from Germany, Latin America, Italy, etc.
