Fairly affordable, lot's of space, can be used for basically anything. They can be ordered as a basic short cab no frills work vehicle or a $60k + vault full of leather and wood with similar luxuries that you would find on an Audi or Mercedes. They're basically a do everything vehicle. Also F150s particularly are very reliable except for some of the V6 turbo engines so people like them because they can last for 20 years easily with basic maintenance. Some of the new models with diesel engines or cylinder deactivation get similar fuel economy to mid size sedans like the E550 or 535i. They're not much more inefficient than other vehicles with similar engine displacements. People in cities tend to drive sedans though like Accords, Fusions/Mondeos, Civics or C-Classes.
