Nope.

I want the switch so badly, but there is a genuine argument that the national transition will simply be to expensive.

Replacing literally everything with metric units and measurements, it's just not viable.

>instant meme
and then post fedora goooosh
>>
>>52883878
the way i see it, the length and weight are stupid here, but what are you gonna do?

farenheit is most frequently used for weather, and is more precise than celsius.

Year are the longest, then months, then days.
>>
>>52884004
By more precise do you mean "a 1 degree difference is smaller in fahrenheit than in celsius"?

Because that literally doesn't matter, at all.
>>
I want to switch the measurements so fucking badly. Here in the US, we have 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/8 inch, 1/12, 1/16 inch. There is no 0.5 inches measurement, everything is a fraction
>>
>>52884090
>we have 1/2 inch
>There is no 0.5 inches measurement
>>
>>52884064
yes, thats what i meant. no, it doesnt really matter in cooking or science, but for checking temperature it think it makes a significant difference.
>>
>>52884090
wut
delet this
>>
>>52884121
How? A difference of one degree celsius is small enough that it never causes any problems in weather reports or anything.
>>
>>52884116
it's labeled 1/2 inch, not 0.5 inch. pain in the ass to convert without a calculator
>>
Literally who the fuck cares?
You live with what ya got and ya move on
Stop complaining
>>
>>52884143
nigga 1/2 inch literally means 1 inch dividee by 2
>>
>>52884133
lets compare the difference from 70 degrees f. to 75 degrees f. There is a distinct difference that you can feel.
In Celsius, it would be 21 to about 24.
I think the difference is more easily shown in Fahrenheit.
>>
>>52884191
that's an easy one, now try 7/16 inch tubing mentally

If you can't divide 1 by 2, 1 by 4, etc. Do you really need to how long those measurements?
>>
>>52884194
numbers are easier to remember in metric than US Custom desu
>>
>>52884194
It's all about how you relate to the figures, so if you're brought up on one it's hard to relate with the other.

But objectively they are both pretty much the same for use. There's no "more accurate" system.
>>
>>52884231
1/8 is .125
1/16 = (1/8)/2 = .0625
8/16 = 1/2 = .5
7/16 = .5 - .0625 = .4375
>>
>>52884231
7/16 = ~ 0.45 inches
wow was that hard
>>

Imperial is indeed arbitrary and unnecessarily complicated.

Which is why only intelligent people can utilise it.

>>
convert 78/16 inches into a yard mentally
>>
>>52884522
7/16 * 3/1
>>
>>52884545
7/16*3/1 = 21/16
21/16 = 1 5/16
1/16 = 0.0625
5/16 = 0.3125
1 5/16 = 1.3125
>>
>>52884642
have fun pausing in the middle of the isle doing that mentally
>>
>>52884685
Nigga pls i thought you'd learn shit like this in the 5th grade
>>
The difference:

Convert a metre into centimetres
1m = 100cm
DONE.

Convert a yard into inches
Er, okay... 1 yard is 91.44cm, 1 inch is 2.54cm, so 91.44 divided by 2.54 is... fuck me, where's the calculator?
>>
>>52883878
Why does the American one say "Arbitrary"?
They're both based on "arbitrary" things. The Imperial system is based on the Roman Empire units, it worked for them and it works for us. The metric system is based off some dead French faggot's femur, if it works for eurocucks then go ahead and use it.
The Fahrenheit isn't based on water's freezing temperature, but on brine's.
The last one has to do with linguistics. In Romance languages it is common to say the cardinal number of the day followed by the month then year. In barbarian (germanic) language that is English it is natural to say the month then the day number. Saying the fifth of January no longer sounds natural since the days of barbarians emulating the civilized Romans and their Romance languages isn't in vogue anymore.
In the end you're all cucks to the Latin empire since you all still use non-metric 10-base time. All you faggots still using 12/24 hour subdivided days.

Oh wait I just saw the flag, never mind why would some criminal incest baby care?
>>
>>52884702
memorizing the entire factions chart is too much of a pain in the ass and plus I never fractions. the multiplication table is much easier to remember
>>
America uses the imperial system since dividing and multiplying by ten is too complicated for the average US citizen.
