I am in the American military. I finished my bachelors degree and am working on my masters degree. All for free. No cost to me.
I can transfer my GI Bill to my son, so I don't have to pay for his college now.
I get a pension at age 38 for the rest of my life, as well as healthcare coverage.
I've seen all corners of the world, and I can get on a military aircraft and ride as a passenger to wherever for free as long as they have room for passengers.
For a job that requires a high school diploma, I make $70K a year.
I get to play with things and blow things up that most people only get to do on Call of Duty.

By the time I left the British Army there were still excellent opportunities in maritime security, which I worked for a while. No, you don't need to have SF experience. They have various niches and roles they need to fill so they hire based around that. Some of these companies have thousands of employees and there are more linguists, lawyers, accountants, medics and intelligence analysts working for them than there are former SF troopers.
5 years Infantry service, as a minimum with good rank gained and a spotless record, in a NATO military was about the bar if you wanted to be on the sharp end of private security contracting.
