Hypothetically, all the ice on Antarctica melts.
The continent is now open for settlement.
Would you enlist to move to Antarctica?
>>52753457
only for an exclusively gaelophone nation
Nah, the internet would be shit.
It would be cool to build a stone cabin out there but I could already do that in Alaska.
Nope. 24 hours of sun in the summer and 24 hours of dark in the winter is not appealing to me.
Just realized a melted Antarctica looks like an RPG overworld.
>>52753548
every continent would look like an rpg map if you were from another planet
antarctic continent is mostly below the sea level
if it melts it will be underwater
>>52753457
Yeah, I'd want to domesticated some plants from surrounding islands first though so I won't die from starvation.
Penguin is gross apparently.
i would be dead because I live in louisiana but yes
>>52753457
If I had any other options, hell no. Even with a rise in temperatures, it's night for half the year, plus the land under the ice is mostly bedrock, so no plants could grow. Humans would have to harvest wind and geothermal power just to survive there.
>>52753736
This. It would be shit and not worth it at all
Yes, if there will be no wogs, curryniggers, chinks, niggers.
>>52753979
But there would be Kazakhs so it would make it even worse
>>52754019
and taigs dont forget
>>52753457
absolutely
>>52753457
What if i told you i already enlisted and will go there in few month?
>>52754107
>ANTARCTICA SON ARGENTINAS!!!!!!!!!!
No. I'm not leaving my country like some new world traitor.
>>52753457
Away from refugees.
>>52754143
You won't have a choice when your house is claimed by the government and repurposed as a refugee holiday house.
>>52754143
will your country even exist when antarctica has melted?
>>52753605
It's only Islands because of the sheer weight of the ice. If the ice is gone it will spring back really fast. (About 10,000 years)
>>52753457
I don't think this is scientifically plausible? Buthanks ignoring that, I've always wanted to be a colonist.
>>52754221
It's plausible but even with carbon at ~600 ppm it would still take thousands of years unless the ice shelves suddenly collapsed.
>>52754123
yes
>>52754287
Is the soil of antarctica arable?
>>52753457
>Would you enlist to move to Antarctica?
immediately considering how bad shape the earth would have to be for antartica to become green and lush, im sure I'd die anywhere else
>>52754571
there's not really soil under the ice sheet of Antartica, it sits on top of the bedrock.
What if we discovered ancient settlements if the ice melted?
>>52753457
No.
It gets even less sunlight than Northern Finland.
