it's safe enough, never heard of anyone dying because of it. Children don't reach it and the others are smart enough not to touch the cables during bath.

Here in the border with Uruguay we have some months of cold, so many people prefer the gas shower, but to be honest, if you have a good one, an electric will do.

from time to time we have to replace the electrical resistence wire
>>
They're a potential hazard. They're either too high to change the temperature setting and force you to jump and eventually fall or they can make a lot of static. You can get shocked just by accidentally placing your hand near the wires, especially when you're all wet. Nobody likes them and they may burn and stop working if you set the temperature too high for too long. Also the cables get hot and are a fire hazard.

Not everyone has one of those, though. Only poor people and Brazilians.

I've used gf's shower multiple times and believe me, nothing has happened. When I was a kid, my late grandma also had one of those. Nothing ever happened either. Besides, I've never heard anything about people getting tazered by their own showers.

Not stating that it is bulletproof, but that it is safer than it seems.
>>
>>52747925
Electric shower head is cheaper, easier to install, takes less space and it's better for the environment

The only downside is that is heats less. But it's already pretty hot here, so it's a non-issue.

No, we use gas

It either takes 5 minutes to heat enough, or uses up a bunch of gas to heat fast enough

Not to mention that the ducts can get clogged and the water never comes out warm

I find it pretty odd that you're getting bullied for this instead of praised
>>
>>52747822
>having to break your wall everytime you need to replace/repair the showerhead

It's ugly yeah, but it's convinient. Also, this is pretty much the standard for lower and middle-class, even high middle-class, households. Wealthy people and establishments like hotels and factories will have gas-heated central systems, but unlike with electric showerheads and taps, every once in a while there are cases of the gas leaking and killing people, so people tend to be scared of installing gas heaters even if they can afford it.
>>
>>52748016
If you allow too much water to run through the shower, it won't catch up with the heating, so if you want really hot water, you must allow a little less water so the shower can handle the water flow and heat it properly.
>>
>>52747903
They call it "heating element" in English-speaking countries.

>>52747916
>being a manlet

Not at the moment since we're experiencing a drought (it might get better this year), but generally yes, like 70/80% of Brazil's energy comes from hydroelectric dams. Currently though we're depending a lot on thermo-electric stations, which has driven energy bills up.

reading this thread I don't think latinos even grasp how incredibly illegal and absurd the showers in these pics would be. I'm willing to bet if you showed them to random people on the street 75% of those who haven't travelled to 3rd world countries wouldn't believe it's not some staged joke photo. it's simply unbelievable

You europeans literally have the same system in your kitchen to heat water.

Don't pretend like it's something barbaric.

Also, our showers are safer than your boilers, since it doesn't turn on without water running.
>>
>>52749668
meaning?
>>
>>52749625
i wasn't really concerned with safety with that one, you just never see wires dangling like that in any appliances here simply for aesthetic reasons even if you're pisspoor. no electrician would install anything like that, would have to be home made by a junkie or something
>>
>>52749668

You are making it a much bigger deal than it actually is, by sheer ignorance of how electricity works.

I'd looked up the statistics for electrical accidents in Brazil and showers are far behind most electronics. In fact, people are in a higher risk of death of slipping and falling in a bath tub. You just have have an irrational fear of electricity + water to be honest.

If the live and the ground wire are very close, electricity barely spreads through water, specially if it's unsalted water. Did you watch the video? you could learn a thing or two.

Ok, but let's say you WANTED to kill yourself. The best way would be to hold the live and the ground wire with separate hands, preferably wet or cut your skin where you touch the wire. But even then, with the 110 standard of Brazil, it's more likely that the shock will be non-lethal. Turns out shower heads are not very good for suicide.

Here its so warm and sunny that it never gets cold enough to warrant heating the water, I'm fact the "cold" if you will, water is a god send on those hot noons.
