The Vichy government continued to exist, but its metropolitan territory was entirely occupied after 1942 (and the colonies were all lost to Free France by then).
Either way, France did not fight against the allies. The only case where this happened was when the Americans landed in North Africa, without bothering to inform any French authorities from either side. Local (Vichy affiliated) French troops obviously fought back.
