There's Italy, the quintessential tourism destination. If you don't visit Italy in your puny lifetime, you haven't even lived. It's not called life if it doesn't have at least one day on the beautiful Italian soil. Then you have Greece and Croatia, but what about Albania

I have literally toured our entire coast and went from Abruzzi to Ancona. There is difference in warmth, but our side is cleaner than yours because we were/are not as industrialized and Croatian larger cities are the size of Italian villages

The reason why Italians see the Adriatic as unclean is because currents that bring in water to the adriatic go along the east coast while the currents that carry water out go along the western Italian coast, including most of the Po river.
The fact the eastern coast is less developed and thus industrialized ofc. helps.

I would choose South Italy if I wanted to lay lazy on the beach, but north Italy if I want more out of Italy. Can't beat South Italian dishes too. Everything has a Mediterranean feel to it.
