Slovene is in many respects a lot closer to western slavic languages than south slavic ones.

Not in general, we're still the closest to Serbo-Croatian, but in many ways we're closer to Czech and Slovak.

The one about Hebrew is slightly inaccurate. Levana, in both modern and biblical Hebrew, isjust the feminime singular adjective form of "white" (she is white = hi levana), so the moon is basically just called "White One". It's a more archaic/poetic way of saying it. Similarly, we have a poetic name for the sun, Khama, "Hot One"

I never understood why most languages have original names for Earth, Sun and Moon but call all the other planets after (usually Roman) gods

Even tho those names (for Earth, Sun and Moon) can often be derivatives for names of gods who rule over them, they still are not identical.

Shamash, Luna, Selene
Sin, Sol, Helios
?, Terra, Gaea/Gaia

Babylonian, Roman and Greek gods of those planets respectively

I wonder, what do you call your planets after? Maybe angels?

Metatron is herald of Earth, and often serves as physical manifestation of G-d
Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael rules over four corners of the Earth, also closest planets.
They're aided by Sachiel, Camael, Haniel and Cassiel the planetary angels.
Gnostics called this "Archons", I forgot which one corresponded to which.
Saturn/Samel was planed of Satan, Venus of Lucifer/Helel before their fall.

I guess like all languages you have original names for Moon, Sun and Earth only.

Mars is Ma'adim, The Reddening/Blushing One (mentioned in the Talmud)
Mercury is also called Khama. IDK why... (In the Talmud it was called Kokhav, which just literally means star)
Venus is Noga, means light in ancient Hebrew (mentioned in the Talmud)
Jupiter is Tzedek, Justice (Again, Talmud. Was used to be called Star of Ba'al but obviously the Rabbis were against that).
Saturn is called Shabtai, from Sheva, which means seven (Again, Talmud.) because it was the 7th planet to be discovered if you don't count Earth and do count the Moon and the Sun.

Makes me wonder if it's deep down related to PIE *kwo somehow (interestingly even old Chinese has a similar one) or if it's just coincident onomatopoeia (imitating barking sounds)
>>

Livonian is over-exaggarated since it doesn't have any native speakers anymore.
Also southern-estonian dialects are somewhat exaggarated aswell, afaik mostly old people speak Tarto and Mulgi dialects. Especially for Tarto dialect.

Greek one always confused me, because most IE languages (plus some Uralic ones and even Japanese) use "n-" as a sort of negation

Some Proto-Uralic words are very similar to PIE while the majority are not at all.
IMO, there was some extinct language family that influenced both.

Ok for Finland, Some borders hard to draw because of their continuous nature. The Savo dialects for example go pretty far west in this map. The dialect in the area is sort of mix between Savonian and Southern Ostrobotnian dialects. Also Swedish areas are a bit exaggerated.

Pretty accurate for the Benelux, but Fleovoland is a bit of a mess, since it doesn't have an indigenous language since it's a polder. Though the Flevopolder I would say is mostly Hollandic, whereas the Nordoostpolder speaks mostly Low Saxon due to Urk.

The use of the "-kunta" suffix sounds odd to me desu.

In Estonian it is "Ühendkuningriik"
ühend - same as finnish
kuning - short form of "kuningas", same root as finnish. A loan from Proto-Germanic
riik - from Low German "rike" or another Germanic language, compare German "Reich". The Estonian meaning is "state"
>>
>>52715572
There are obvious ones like homo, "one who takes it in the ass", "sucker".

The one mostly likely to equate to faggot is "one who rises up", which I never really understood the meaning behind, and hardly anyone uses anymore.

There are also the funny ones, like pillow biter, chocolate milk mixer, and "one who walks backwards in a cornfield".

The -kunta suffix exists in Estonian as -kond.
In terms of states and ruling, it's only used for local municipalities. E.g "maakond" - "county" (as in municipal unit, state where a count rules is "krahvkond")

Also, "erakond" - "political party" (era - private), "keskkond" - nature (kesk - centre)
