i know we usually kill them by extensively exposing the head to flames until its all carbonized most worms won't survive it then we proceed to clean it with hot water and scratch all infected parts with a knife sometimes we even remove the skin completely and eat the cheeks which are objectively the best part they are also used to make sausages (commonly known as merguez here)

It was actually because of an advertising campaign that they did last summer that sparked the whole "peri peri" thing, I remember they had this annoying jingle that would come on every commercial break & drive me nuts, I fucking hated that ad, but others liked it which was really confusing to me.
