Ask a bored northern Canadian anything.
>>
Are you an Eskimo or something?
>>
Are you a bored Canadian?

No, white. There aren't many Inuit here and the few that do live here are in the extreme north.

I don't really have one. I liked the "British vs. American words" one, but I haven't seen that in a while.

>>52706319
Used to, but I haven't gone in a few years now.

>>52706329
Most people lock their garbage away in sheds or bear-proof trashbins, but bears/wolves getting into trash is pretty common here. Some guy recently got in shit because he shot two wolves digging through his garbage.

>>52706350
Yukon, near Alaska.

How much is a gallon of milk?

What do you do for a living?
>>
>>52706266
how is the Internet there? I love nordic countries and Canada seems comfy af
>>
>>52706792
If it's anything like it is here in Alaska, complete garbage. $60 for 10 down/1 up in the cities and God forbid you live outside of one.
>>
Biggest game you've hunted?
>>
>>52706422
Whitehorse? Super jelly t. minnesotan
>>
>>52706763
1L of milk is ~2.50 CDN. 1 gallon is roughly 4L, so $10.

>>52706767
I work in life insurance.

>>52706792
Actually pretty good because the government here ran a program called Connect Yukon about 10 years ago that led to us being the most connected jurisdiction in Canada in terms of broadband/high speed internet. The prices aren't terrible, but there's a monopoly run by Northwestel. Here are some of their packages:

>>52706792
Not OP, but Canadian internet sucks, even in cities.

Telecommunications is a national monopoly between 4 companies because of 'national security'.

I'm currently spending $60 a month for 30mbps down.
>>
>>52706894
Bull moose. I haven't hunted in years, either. That was with my dad about 20 years ago.

>>52706908
Yep, born and bred. We have lots of Americans coming through as tourists but I don't think I've ever met a Minnesotan.
>>
>>52707028
That's surprising actually. We're known as the most canadian state besides Alaska. How is living in Whitehorse? It's the center of activity in the Yukon, no? Would it be similar to Yellowknife? Is Yellowknife shittier?
>>
>>52707147
Pretty much. Actually, Yellowknife is more developed from what I've heard. One of my buddies moved there for work and says he prefers it.
>>
>>52707147
Not
>>52707028
But Whitehorse is a lot less shitty. There's less less whites in Yellowknife, and being right next to a giant lake makes it snow more and seem colder.
>>
>>52706266
Can I go there lad?
>>
Any pro tip for survive in cold winter?
>>
>>52707263
If you want.

>>52707376
There's not much to tell these days with heating and high quality gore-tex clothing. Most of us carry flint-steel and cotton balls these days when we're out in the brush. Starting a fire and keeping warm is a non-issue.
>>
>>52707207
>>52707238
There is a conflict here
>>
>>52707653
OP here. I haven't been to Yellowknife so I'm just going by what I've heard. I mean, just look at their downtown compared to ours.
>>
>>52707653
Well
>>52707207
is right that it's more developed. A lot of the buildings in it are more recent, and a lot of the companies and government management of Yukon is in BC. Yellowknife has newer and bigger building in it's downtown, but I don't think that it makes it better than Whitehorse. Yellowknife is a shorter flight away to the rest of civilization.
>>
>>52707787
Ah thanks. So Whitehorse can't manage its own shit? And how is Yellowknife closer to civilization? Excuse me if I misread.
>>
>>52707832
To elaborate: yellowknife is a shorter flight to civilization? To where? Whitehorse? Wood Buffalo national park? Whitehorse is on the Dalton/Alaska highway isn't it?
>>
Yellowknife is a shorter flight to Edmonton, and there's a bunch more flights that are also cheaper.

Whitehorse is on a highway, but it's not a well travelled one. Yellowknife has better marine access, so they can have large quantities shipped there better.

It's not so much that the Yukon can't handle it's own shit. The Northwest Territories and Nunavut used to be one territory, and Yellowknife was the capital, so it was of greater importance. Some of the the functions of Yukon's governance was handled through British Columbia in Victoria.

The development of each territory was different. Much of the stuff in the NWT is more recent and on land that has a stronger native claim to it. They were able to get more corporate stuff located in Yellowknife, while a bunch of companies did stuff in the Yukon with corporate in Vancouver, or in London.
