This gigantic part of the world; bigger then the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, China, or the Middle East, but nobody ever talks about it.
What the fuck is it ?
>>
>>52670364
It's uninhabited and climate is the same as in The Antarctic. There is nothing to discuss.
>>
If you open map of Russia you can even found cities in that area. Also they r collect a lot of resources. I don't know why this Ivan said this bullshit, probably he's doesn't wanna you know the truth.
>>
>>52670364
I got relatives in there. I'm from a soviet represion victim family.

I doubt he's Polish. No one in the European part knows anything about irrelevant lands. Only people who run from something go there. Also this >>52671172.
>>
There are these cities like Norilsk that scares everyone. Well, also probably the worst climate on the Earth after Antarctic.

It's very sparsely populated relative to its size.
For example, Sakha republic (Yakutia) - if independent, would be the 8th largest country on earth, with less than million people in it.

This may all change if siberian permafrost thaws one day. Russia would become the kind of virgin land America once was.

You should better check energy grid map. Outside of it there aren't any permanent settlements. There could be a huge city on a resource site with commieblocks, schools, etc. but when oil or diamond field is exausted everybody move out there.

Tatars are not in these regions. Those "origins siberians" barely existed when cossaks came there, i mean all their khanate was destroyed by one squade or cossaks.

I was talking about urban population. Sure there are reindeerers and indigenous nomads somewhere, but even they try to live near civilization so they could trade deers for factory goods. There are also military outposts and science/meteostations, but most of places are absolutely empty. Canada Arctic archipelago is the same, I guess.

I just read the wikipedia article about that city. It's locked for foreigners and its only accessible by ships and planes.
I seriously wonder how people live there. Do they have internet? Are they able to have fun in bars, clubs and theatres?

Most people who live there do it tempirary because they pay a lot for working there. Those who live there parmanently are either some lokal folks who doesn't want to leave their homeland or they just don't have money to leave. Many of these "cities" dissapeared after 1991 though. And population of those that didn't heavily decreased.
