Tell me more about "the nordic model". it sounds interesting

It isn't the best model for competetive people. The most successful like to move to other countries because they can be more successful (= earn more money) there. Love for your own country was probably one of the things that used to keep good people here despite the system not really being tailored for them, but for decades the so called intelligentsia has wanted to destroy has wanted to destroy all sorts of national pride and sense of unity. The country, the culture or the people don't really mean anything so why would anyone stay here and make things better if they can have a higher standard of living somewhere else?

Obviously the problem is more complex than this but still I think that the pro-welfare state guys who also try to destroy the things unifying the country are not doing themselves any favors. At least they should come up with other reasons to base this unity on, and "we're all human" seems to be too broad to work.

the nordic model is a media campaign and you can't do media if the model seems to lead to failure

it's bullshit

I thought most of Europe looks up to the Nordics, unless you're like from Slavic Europe and think your primitive, traditionalist Orthodox peasant society is superior to the "degenerate" West.

Some people like to say that the Nordic model can never be transplanted to other countries that are more capitalist, like Germany, the US, or more deeply authoritarian shitholes like China.

But first of all we have to remember that the "Nordic model" isn't just restricted to the Nordic countries, no matter how much people want to claim that they're unique. Australia, New Zealand and Canada and even the Netherlands and Ireland are basically all Nordic model countries in my view.

So, in my view, if the United States were divided up into dozens of countries, we could create a country of 16 million people at the very most (probably much less) and 5 million people at the very least. This country could be made up of Americans who embrace a social democratic model (Nader and Thom Hartmann and Cenk Uygur fans, etc.), but even if it was potentially forced on the people by a 51% vote and a lot of the people didn't necessarily agree with it at first, I think it would work.

Once again, as long as it has that level of population, and it was populated by people above a certain level of IQ, and was populated 85% by Germanic and Celtic and Finnic peoples, it could work.

You've seriously never heard that term used in English speaking circles? It's been pretty prevalent for years now.

I suppose I could take Slovenia and Czech Republic and Poland out of the same category as places like Russia and Belarus and Serbia, but certainly most of the less "successful" Slavic countries think they're better than the West (including Canada and US and Aus and NZ)

I don't actually think that the fact that Slavs are a primtiive peasant society is all that bad, I should've said that, I'm actually quite a Slavaboo, and think their high birth rate and less materialistic way of life and conservatism is interesting and admirable, though I think I'd still like to live in a Germanic or Celtic country.

you sound like a lot of rich fucks here
>if you're poor it's your own fault for being stupid
>slavs are poor because they're primitive
slavs are poor because they got fucked over by the war and later the ussr, whilst you were sitting there selling weapons and bombing little babies in vietnam.

also russia, belarus and serbia are nothing alike, which you'd know if you opened a book in your life.

I don't think the Nordic Model would be a good fit for the UK. The burden of taxation is too high, the size of the State too large. I don't believe in keeping the State too large because a lean state is generally more efficient, and it should be smallish so there is space to grow it in an emergency (such as war). I can get behind keeping the NHS in public hands because that is actually more efficient than privatising it, as you have the single-payer system pooling funds and the NHS can purchase drugs more cheaply through its effective monopoly. But beyond that the welfare state should be limited.

At the end of the day, the Nordic Model is harder to implement in larger countries that are naturally more messy to govern. There is also a danger that the high burden of taxation can stifle innovation, although Sweden does kind of prove me wrong here.

I'm not rich at all, I'm a NEET living with a single mom who can barely make ends meet because she hasn't been able to get a good job with her 2 liberal arts degrees. And I'm in favor of either a Nordic model system or some sort of anarchist system (anarchocommunism, anarchocollectivism, or mutualism) in order to lift people out of poverty.

I think Germanics, Celtics, Finnics, Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese are always going to be more affluent and less prone to make bad choices in life though, so we need to take that into account when we're designing a new system. I think a lot of the worst poverty that we see among brown people in the West and around the world can be eliminated through policy changes alone, and we have a moral obligation to help lift them out of poverty, but they will never rise to the level of paler people.
