Oregon is basically the wests Appalachia. You've got Portland which is just a much smaller quirky Seattle and then a vein of normal small cities down the 5 highway.
Get off the highway in central or southern Oregon and it's best to be bound for a tourist destination and not get lost.
It's not like Chicago dangerous just don't look like a victim, you know. Some places are actually kept really peaceful by forces out of Nevada.
Some counties don't have police in the traditional sense, it can be kind of wild west at times.
